I'm having issues with the firewire port, but specific to one of my cameras; I've tested it on one of my minidv cameras and it works fine, but my main digital slr body is having real difficulty connecting and staying connected when I'm trying to shoot.
It seems to connect, but then when I start up the program I use to shoot with it, it says it cannot communicate with the camera and then the connection drops. I have to reboot the computer (which takes a very long time after I connect the camera, suggesting maybe there's an IRQ conflict or something? But whilst the camera is connected, there's no warning of this in any system settings) in order for the camera to connect to it again, but then the same thing happens all over again.
Is there a firewire driver upgrade for this machine that I should install? Given the fact that other devices seem to work okay with it, I generally think it's something to do with the camera's compatibility and/or the software. I've installed all the Vista drivers from the Canon website and also done a Windows update (which, btw, solved the lid closing issue many seem to having).
Anyway, I know this was an annoyingly long post, but I just wonder if I need to install some drivers from the Dell website for this firewire port.
Thanks

Check around the forum; there are a couple of threads with firewire issues. If I remember correctly, there were some threads about firewire and the 1330 but they would still be applicable as the machines are so much alike except in size. Use the search feature and I am sure you will find some help.
Are there any known firewire issues with 1530?
