Nope, the Studio XPS and Alienware have replaced the original XPS line-up.

I'm sure you are talking about the Studio XPS line and not the older XPS line. If so, then yes, Dell will refresh it sometime by the year end hopefully.

The gaming XPS line is dead.

As everyone mentioned AW now has taken that spot for Dell's gaming line.

Studio XPS is now the multimedia machines....

Because m1330 is super popular, "laptop of the year (2007)" and things like that, so people are still buying them. They are good, of course, but it's just a matter of time before they are discontinued and Dell stops selling them.

Another question, when one buys a pc from any brand company (lets use Dell) and the brand is discontinued, do they still supply warranty ? Will they still have parts to fix the laptop that is discontinued?

Yes, as long as you have a Warranty it will still continue to be supported by Dell! Even, if it's being sold at the Outlet the warranty that covers the Model you purchased is supported by Dell :)

The good thing about buying a Dell computer is that being the biggest PC maker, Dell products have the largest amount of aftermarket parts, so you can easily buy parts even on eBay if need be. And of course even if Dell discontinues a product line, they will not immediately stop supporting it, normally they will support it for a couple of years more.

and if your warranty lasts way longer than the parts Dell have, Dell sometimes upgrades (or you might consider this a downgrade) you to the new line... though i don't think the Studio XPS 13 is a fair upgrade from the XPS m1330

    One more question about warranty.

I'm from India and if I'll buy a Dell SXPS laptop from USA with the (default 1yr showing on their website) warranty and bring it back to my home country, Will the same warranty be valid in India ?

Again, Is it true that during nov-dec Dell gives heavy discount on laptops.
Is it true, then is it worth to wait 3-4 months more to buy a good laptop with more discount ?

    Thank you.

you should be able to transfer the warranty, seeing it's international...

google on it first, and confirm with a few dell rep (that's what they're paid to do)

discounts come and go... every month you wait, stuff gets cheaper, but you can't keep waiting forever

I dont think that anyone would know that... Buy now if you need it now, buy later if you need it later... Sorry, but that is just how it works...

My guess would be this holiday season. Dell usually releases new stuff around then to boost sales.

The Studio 16 just got it's refreshed video card, and its been a year since the XPS 13 launched and still nothing. That either means its not changing, or it means it could be getting a refresh soon.

Problem is the heat in that chassis, which will turn into a frying pan if you stick a decent discrete GPU in it.

Back-to-School would be an appropriate time for me....

No, it would be a nice time, and it would be a tremendous boost in sales for Dell, also! :D

I would say November this year, that's my prediction. By that time Intel will release their next gen mobile CPUs, so it makes sense that Dell might include them in the refreshed Studio XPS.

The back to school deals are already starting to roll out.

Even if there is a refresh it'll be a minor one (ie no new moniker like 1345). TBH there aren't any new procs due out till the end of the year. I guess they could start putting in the new GT200's that were anounced not too long ago but I think Dell will wait and put those in with the real refresh.
