I went for the Panther/Black... since I have the Obsidian black 1645, I figured I'd go with the black themeDefinitely a great purchase... I just clean the screen with the one I use to protect it

so could i replace the screen

I'm confused, what's wrong with the 15.6" one? I mean, the 1645 has a 15.6" screen, and the 15.6" protector is apparently 16:9 so shouldn't it be a perfect fit? Or is it because the 1645 is designed to accommodate the 16" RGBLED option and is thus actually bigger than what the 15.6" protector provides?
Those pics of the custom-made protector look very convincing but I'm tempted to just plump for the default 15.6" one since it's slightly cheaper...
I was cleaning my screen just now and noticed unusual scratch marks matching the outline of the touchpad. Is that it? Would Dell replace something like that without Complete Cover? -
Ya, the custom size fits the entire face surface of the screen (including bezel) and the opposing surface of the keyboard + speakers + palm rest... and fits perfects. I highly recommend the custom sized one for the 1645.... I love it!

I got the custom size recommended and I wish I had gone 1" deeper and just cut out the hinge area; It doesn't cover the area where the screen hits the battery.
Other than that it does fit well. -
I ordered the 15.6" and it worked fine, but didn't cover as much as I wanted...So, instead of returning and getting the size I specifically wanted ~ I just decided to order another one - The Custom Fit. And, have 2...I was just being "feisty".
Either one will work, really.

What custom size should I go with then to ensure the entire thing is covered, including the bezel/battery area?
-
I'd say 15" by 10".... my be a quarter of an inch too deep, but hey you'd rather have some to cut off than none to add. Right?
I myself am sad I paid 20 bucks for one not deep enough... -
I thought I read someone mentioned it wasn't protecting the bezel part by the logo and they were still getting scratches with that size.
-
Works just fine for me on my 1647
No scratches whatsoever. But, order what size would be "comfy" for you.
Also, this Code should work for 10% Off your order: TJOOS10

Don't you have the glass screen though, Cin'? If that were the case the custom would be fine... because the glass doesn't give like plastic.....
-
so the new xps 16s have glass screens? mine is coming in and i dont want anything happening to my new baby!
-
Ordered the 15.6" then read further and ordered the custom size. I e-mailed customer service to cancel the first order but do any of you know how to cancel it manually? Whatever,I'm still excited! It'll probably get here well before my laptop.
-
Thanks for the code. I got one, but am still waiting for my SXPS (should arrive tomorrow)
Unfortunately, I wasn't able to modify/cancel my order online. I sent them an email, and they corrected it. Just to be safe, I ended up sending 3 emails... -
For those who do not want to spend money on a shaggymac cloth and have had a replacement/or don't care abut the blue thin carrying bag, I cut one of those up to use.... I actually use it over my shaggymac because it covers more.

Hi All,
I have a 1 month old SXPS 1645 with RGLED 1080p.
I have issues with my screen as it gets scrathes which are not that large. Besides this the screen also had some marks which appeared like the screen was exposed by small sand corns between the screen and the keyboard. I called Dell and also sent them some pictures. They sent out a technician who replaced my screen. Today Dell called me and informed me that if the problem continues they will remove the keyboard and lower it a little in order to prevent more screen damages. This is why I choose Dell. I like the product. I like the service. I have also bought a shaggymag protection.
Now I just need to reinstall a clean windows 7
Kind regards
Arghh.. Key marking up display?
