Hey everyone,
I just got the XPS 1340 as a replacement from Dell and it came with Vista 32bit i requested a 64 bit disk and loaded it all up. All the drivers are back on and the audio is absolutely terrible. It crackles and skips. I am using iTunes to play music.
Has anyone had this same problem able to fix it and if so how?

O and I never installed the IDT Audio HD startup program because I dont have the disk for that. The Audio Codec is installed and that is from IDT

Maybe it's the audio latency problem in the SXPS 13. Check out the thread for that: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=356431&page=4
Meanwhile, Dell is planning to release a bios update for the issue: http://en.community.dell.com/forums/p/19260011/19523351.aspx -
It sounds like something else might be at fault here. -
I am just interested in playing the audio from movies and iTunes. Nothing to do with audio creation or recording. You would think that a expensive laptop like this Dell would be able to at least do that.

make sure you install the dell sounds drivers, the sounds is crap with the standard windows drivers

I think I fixed it I found the old IDT HD Audio desktop application that work fine so far.
Thanks everyone for the advice!
