    anyone here know if i can put this tv card into the empty hsdpa slot of the xps m1330? or can i put it in place of the wireless card? is there a wifi aerial built into the screen that i can use as the tv aerial? i think the long black wire in the 2nd picture is the aerial extension, and i think the connector at the end of this can be used to connect to a normal coaxial house tv aerial with an adaptor that comes with the AVerTV Hybrid Express Slim HC81. and this extension can maybe squeeze thru the gap between the battery and the laptop if i need external aerial

    The card will fit in the slot, despite Dell's labelling they are generic slots which will take any card. The Dell doesn't have a built in aerial, you can't use the wireless ones, and the wire that comes with it looks to be the aerial itself, rather than a way of plugging a coax connection into it. To ensure a reasonable picture quality, this would really need to end up in the screen of the laptop, which would require you to completely dismante the machine, run the cable, and there may be insufficient space for it in the screen anyway.

    Based on this, I'd really stick to an ExpressCard tuner.

    I just completed my upgrade on my dell xps m1330 with the avermedia a-312 mini pci-e tv/fm tuner.instead of trying to run an internal ant in the screen,I soldered a 1/8 mono plug to the ant cable.
    Finding a area to put my plug was easy.I used the slot you use to put a lock on your laptop.[i never use the slot]
    I had to make the hole alittle larger to fit the plug.
    the whole project took about 1 hour to complete and looks like it was always there.in a few days i will have complete pics and diagram of what i did and the drivers i used to get the tv and fm to work with mce.
    I tested with xp mce vista hm prem and vista ult,and all works perfect.

    I have been considering this project for some time now on my M1530. Are you using Vista x64, and if so are there drivers? Also did you make your own cable to go from the card to the connector or buy one?

    Looking forward to some pics. Nice work.

    I have a dell d630 with what looks like two spare mini pcie slots other than the wifi. One is labeled wwan. Can i use this slot with the spare antenna cables there? i think one cable is white and one is black and white.I would love to have an internal tv card instead of a card or stick poking out of my laptop?

    Hi xpsm1330tv do you have pictures of that project you did. I've been thinking of doing the same thing I have a dell xpsm1340 but previously had a m1330 and was thinking of one of the two headphone outputs the laptop has. But that is a very good idea much better than mine at least.
    Just wondering did you have a go with the antenna that came with the laptop?

    Regards,
    Miguel

    @xpsm1330tv

    IT would be fantastic if you could follow up with which drivers you used to get this up and running!
