Anyone know whether it would be possible to swap a B156HW01 V.4 screen into 15z? Lack of high gamut matte panel is pretty much the only thing holding me back form buying one.

Does anyone know if the 1080p screen offered in the XPS 15z is comparable to that of the 1080p B+RGLED L502x? I know under tech specs of the 15z Dell has WLED listed. However, is the WLED as bad as the 720p of the XPS L502x?

WLED is just the backlight. Most screens are WLED, but I can almost guarantee it won't be as bad as the 720p in the L502x. It won't be as good as the B+RGLED screen either, and nobody knows who the manufacturer of the panel is.

The XPS 15z 1920x1080 panel is made by AU Optronics (South Korea) -- it is TN WLED. Dell might use an additional source.

Edit: Yeah, Taiwan. (LG is in South Korea.)

It was determined in the other thread that the panel is B156HW03 v0, 60% gamut, 500:1 contrast, 300 nit brightness.

Sounds like it should be compatible with B156HW01 then.

according to the teardown manual for the 15z, you have to purchase a new bezel too. They are glued on or something.

just something to keep in mind
