Hey well I haven't updated my BIOS since I got my laptop half a year ago, until now. I have no overclocking, and I use a notebook cooler. I noticed a change in peak temperatures after switching to the new BIOS.
BIOS 05
Idle: CPU 55~, GPU 60~
Performance: CPU 70~, GPU 75~
BIOS 09
Idle: CPU 50~, GPU 60~
Performance: CPU 80~, GPU 90~ (!)
Yeah I dunno what's up with this, no real difference for idle temps, but for performance it's wierd. I use I8kfanGUI to monitor, and these temperatures were a rather startling. Has anyone else had such results? Is there a better program to monitor temperatures? Thanks.

i8kfan is not the best temp monitor for our systems. Use HWMonitor.
Maybe i8kfan reads the temps through the bios and so with the new bios the temp readings are way more off.
Check with HWMonitor to see if that's the case. -
Ok yeah I used Rivatuner and HWMonitor, and I think I'm going to uninstall I8k.
Rivatuner showed peak GPU at 79 degrees.
HWmonitor showed peak GPU at 80 degrees, peak CPU at 78 degrees.
I8k showed peak GPU at 91 degrees, peak CPU at 83 degrees.
So I'm guessing my GPU is around 80 degrees at full load, and CPU around 80 as well. Should I be concerned?
Also, what's ACPI temp? HWMonitor is reading this at 87 degrees peak! -

Hey so I'd like to know if peak temps of CPU and GPU at around 80 degrees are safe? I'm so scared now that I've learned there's defective GPUs going around, maybe I should visit these forums less =P
Ignorance can indeed be bliss.
BIOS 05 to 09 update, increased temp??
