Hi, I'm running 1645 ATi 4670. I've tried several mods but the maximum I can smoothly run is 750-900. I'm currently using A12 at this clock, I'd appreciate if you can make a 1645 A13.5W 4670 750 900 for me. Thank you.

Yep, I verified- it never happened with stock clocks.

Hi, sorry for posting this here, I've got a Dell Inspiron N5010 with an Ati HD5650.

I am trying to mod the bios, but finding it impossible.

Could you help me please or just guide me in the right direction.

The download from dell's site is in .exe format. I have tried unpacking it, but afterwards all the files in the "DUMP" directory seems invalid or unusable.

Here's a link to the bios.

    Drivers and Downloads

    Thank you

I was able to unpack the BIOS, but was unable to find the vBIOS inside anywhere. The new EFI BIOSes are a bit different, are not as easily modifiable with current tools. Sorry.

You want to OC i7? What for..?

Unless you have very cool room and want to rise the temperature a little bit ;)

Can one of you bros like seeker_moc or Da_G help me generate a working Bios for my XPS 16?

    My model:
    Dell XPS 16 1647
Bios A11 ( Download Dell Studio XPS 1647 Laptop BIOS Update A11 Drivers)
    Intel Core i5 M 460
    4GB DDR3 Ram
    ATI HD 5730 1GB

I would like to do a moderate OC on the 5730 to 725/925.

I'm only using Coolermaster U3 with bottom casing attached, I get around 58-61degC on 5730 when playiing Crysis while CPU normally around 50-55degC.

Currently the only option i have is AMD GPU Clock Tool v0.9.26.0 but it will run the card on max when being set. Other software like MSI Afterburner freezes up my windows after opening while AMD Overdrive gives me the bluescreen of death upon loading & during startup. The AMD CCC 11.5 I have doesn't have the overdrive function.

If you guys are willing to help me generate a working bios kindly let me know what data/information you require. Been reading for few hours i don't think i'm capable of using Phoenix Tools especially when it comes to modifying hexagonal number files.

Because when using more cores the 720qm is just too slow. It's often slower than i5 because it can run more mhz

I totally agree with you on this. It should have been atleast 3.6Ghz in One Core :(

But' it's using few cores for a reason - so if I understand it right it is few times faster at this time. I can understand the idea of OC but this seems to be one of the fastest mobile CPU for the moment. Hard for me to find reason for more speed.

The only time that the i5s are faster than the 720 is when you're running only 1-2 threads on a single core. When running more than 2 threads, the 720 is faster. I'd suggest against OCing it on the 1645, as the 720 will reach throttle temps on most systems even without OC, and the 720 is not the bottleneck on these systems anyway.

There's no way to OC the actual core-i mobile CPUs. The setFSB program can OC some laptops by OCing the clock generator, not the CPU itself. As the ASUS probably uses a different clock generator, that is likely why you can OC it and not the 1645. If you were really interested in doing this anyway, I'd suggest looking at the setFSB website, figuring out what PLL/clock generator that the 1645 uses, and requesting the setFSB author to add it to his program.

Well nobody knows the PLL clock generator? Can't believe I'm the only one.
With MS FSX my i7 won't go above 1700mhz because of cores usages. It's just too slow

If it won't go above 1700mhz, it's because it's using all the cores/threads. 8 threads at 1700 is way faster than 4 threads at, say, 2300 on the i5s. Clock speed isn't everything. I'll take a look at what PLL we have next time I pull my laptop apart.

Try right-clicking and 'run as administrator'. If that doesn't work, I'll try to re-package the entire thing.

Edit: Unzip this and try it. If this doesn't work, I don't know what the problem is. http://www.mediafire.com/?ainle50322q6p9n

I am requesting an A11 5730 bios mod with a slightly lower core clock...maybe 800mhz even...starting to get a little buggy as time goes on playing MW2. 800X1066 would be good if possible...thanks in advanced.

No problem Seeker...I really appreciate your work. Just a question though, can you direct me to a good thread about cooling? If I remove the dust shield does that have any noticeable effect on "cooling"? My games play fine for awhile and then drop to an average rate of 2-5FPS even when going from Extreme settings to the lowest of the low, it remains at 2-5FPS. Obviously...something to do with the FX card and the heat.

What exactly is it that's preventing us from playing with the 1640 BIOS? I'm interested because I'd like to undervolt my graphics and enable any hidden menus (if there are any... if not then they can be made).

Sorry this has taken me so long. I'm working to finish up the last 3 requests already made, but after that I'm going to stop producing new modded BIOSes until after I'm back at home (it'll be a while). My internet here is SLOW, it literally takes an hour to upload just 1 BIOS, and the amount of free time I have to spend on this is very limited. The instructions to do it yourself were posted a few pages back, and I will continue to monitor this thread occasionally to assist any of you in working this yourself.

hello i have a acer( i know this is a dell thread, but hoping that gpu bioses are the same)with a gt 420m, unfortunatly this card does not support nvidia 3dtv play. So i was hoping it was possible to flash the gt335m bios(Different chip, i know) or the 540m(same chip) so i could get support for it.

Is this at all possible anymore?(i remember i had an old radeon card back in the days i could upgrade with the bios for the card above)

I know your not making bioses anymore but if you could point me to where i may find gt 540m vbios and software for flashing it i would appreciate it.
Tried nibitor 6.0.3 and it doesnt seem to recognise the bios.

Seeker, do you think you could mod the 1MB of RAM on my Commodore 64 for me? My International Karate is lagging a bit. :-( J/K, haha.

Keep up the great work and I suggest you accept donations and give everyone your PayPal account or something? Thanks again for all your hard work!

Sorry, it's been dusty the last few days and our sat connection keeps going in and out, interrupting anything I try to up/download. That and I've actually been busier at work than I expected since I got here. I'm really trying to get these last few made and uploaded. I have most of the day Sunday off, so hopefully I'll have them posted by then.

Funky Monk, I can mod the 1640 BIOS just fine, I've made 3 of them. However, the 2 people I made them for were unable to flash the modded BIOS, it would give them errors and abort. I might be able to figure it out if I had a 1640 to work on, but I don't. If you know somebody deployed over here with a 1640, let me know, lol.

sygekule, as long as it's a phoenix BIOS, then you can edit it with this tool. However, trying anything beyond modifying a current BIOS can be dangerous. Adding features, even if it is technically the same chip, may well work, but there's a good chance you'd brick it.

If you are still interested in trying, I would try to find another Acer with a 540m and Phoenix BIOS. Pull the other BIOS apart with the tool, find the vBIOS, and compare it with yours. If the sizes and most of the coding are the same (use a hex editor w/ compare function), go ahead and try it (have a crisis recover disk ready). If they're different, I'd consider moving on.

mixuil, I've tried the L702 before, but it is an UEFI, not a BIOS, and the tool acted 'strange' when I tried to open it. I'd be afraid that it would look like it works, but doesn't, and ends up bricking your laptop. Maybe it will be updated in the future. Also, last time I checked NiBiTor doesn't support the newest 5xxm series nvidia GPUs. I sent the creator some examples, and he was going to add support, but I don't know if he did or not yet, it's been a few months since I checked.

rnbaker, thanks for the support. I do this because I wanted to OC and otherwise improve the 1645 for myself. A lot of others on this forum spent their time to help me figure out how to do it. Doing this for you guys is a way of paying them (nando4, kizwan, and a few others) back for their time (though I think I've settled my debt by now, lol). That said, I'm not one to turn down offered money, but it really isn't required.

Also, I'm not going to stop modding altogether, I'm taking more of an hiatus while I'm away.

Sorry guys, it just isn't going to happen. I have the BIOSes made, but my connection just can't make it through an entire 1.3MB upload at before it times out or the connection drops. I haven't even made it to 50% yet. I'll try again next week, they're supposed to complete an unspecified 'fix' by then, but I wouldn't get your hopes up.

We think of MB as being really small, as we are all used to large files, but a post here is really only a couple hundred bytes, easy enough to sneak through. I hate satellite internet, especially when they only have a few dishes and it's shared amongst thousands of people.

However I have just 4,5 on "Desktop performance for Windows Aero" with Ati 5730. Isn't that a little to low? (its not the bad card after all).
