Indeed..now that I applied AC5..let's see what this GPU can do
-
I didn't even do that yet and I am running @ 825X1050
-
So how far can you 4670 users go? I'm currently at 825/975 and doesn't go above 82c during stalker COP + complete mod
-
This is stock BIOS:
Zippyshare.com - Card1.ROM
This is undervolted BIOS:
Zippyshare.com - 525m_085.ROM
Can you help me overclocking the card by modding it manually?
How are the clocks stored?
How do I identify them?
I know the voltage table is identified with 30 0F 04 04
I found it that way.
But I wonder where to overclock it in the VBIOS.
stock clocks:
600/1200/900
I would like to get 740/1480/900
Can you help me out? Let me know if you like donation afterwards -
So still no news on OCing the i7? Now with my AS5 paste I'm really interested in OCing this CPU... It doesn't get above 73c now on full load for 2 hours+ (where before it would easily hit 90c)
-
Topic dead;( guess nobody is interested in XPS1645 anymore. Anyway using my 4670 @ 825/975 in skyrim. Doesn't go above 85c, playing skyrim @ ultra btw
-
glad to hear that the 4670 can handle everything on Ultra
i haven't gotten Skyrim yet, but i'm very excited about it. i can only assume that the 5730 can handle it equally as well -
ULTRA
Mine will MELT at ultra.. what resolution are you running at ?
everything is on high..and res is 1600x900.
sigh..
p.s- topic isn't dead.. lol i keep looking at it but don't usually have anything constructive to say
-
I'm using external monitor. I can't even play patience with the LCD open because it will throttle due to heat (although I haven't tried now with artic AS5 paste). I have a very old LCD so only 1440x900. I have OCed my GPU and I'm not running any FSAA (jaggies aren't that bad in skyrim).. Outside I get 30-60 fps, only in the big cities when I look over the town it drops to 20, but I can live with it and this is 100% CPU limit. When I downclock or overclock my GPU in the 20fps area fps don't even change.
-
What about the warranty? Do you lose if you install modded BIOS?
-
Why? You could just reinstall original bios and nobody would notice
-
Okay, thanks.
-
not sure if someone still interested on modding the new L502X and the another new XPS laptops, but I just acomplished some small moding tests at the L502X A07 bios version
more info at this link.
http://forum.notebookreview.com/dell-xps-studio-xps/632899-modding-l502x-bios-project-5.html
the project needs a little more work on it anyway. -
Just out of interest, what programs did you use to unpack and modify the original ROM file?
I have PBE but it seems a little cumbersome and in many cases it's unable to deal with some of the files in the rom. -
I have a Dell 1645 Q720 but my graphics card says AMD HD 6570m/5700 series, I have no clue which too overclock with
-
^means you have the ATi HD5730M..
-
appreciate it
-
Ok, all this recent talk of bios modding has sparked my interest again. So I looked into the 1640 bios and found some half exciting things which are disabled, the problem is that I have no way of emulating the bios unlike some others so I'd be modding blind.
Anyway, I extracted the VBIOS as well in case you want to use it to change the clocks on your cards, they're the "OPROM" files. Open them in RBE to find the appropriate one for your card. Bear in mind you'll have to rebuild the bios to use them.
I also made a list of interesting option strings I saw, if you search for each terms in the "strings" rom then you should find the interesting locations.
If anyone knows of a program which can emulate phoenix bios then please let me know, I'm not in a hurry to brick my PC any time soon.
stuff.rar | Game Front -
Already done here. For SXPS 1640, you can emulate it using Phoenix BIOS Editor.
-
Ah, I only saw the first post. Thanks.
Did you unlock the section allowing extra multipliers by chance? There was also the section refering to the PLL which looked interesting, if we could change the BCLK through bios then that would be awesome. -
Please look at the second screenshot. Is that what you're referring to? I have not tested them myself though.
-
It WOULD be awesome. i7 720qm can be OCed on ASUS..been waiting for it on the XPS 1645
-
Hi, does anyone know if the 1645_A13.5W_N
C.zip BIOS makes it possible to control the fan speed in Linux. I want to try and make the system more quiet.
Thanks, -
okay stumbled on this thread too.. Flashed the BIOS, but i don't see any options about changing BCLK. Would be extremely grateful if someone could do it!
-
All the 1645 Modded BIOS links are dead at media fire, can someone reupload or point me in the direction of the files?
-
Seeker, can you please reupload this BIOS? It's no longer available on Mediafire.
-
hi guys i have one question which bios should i use if my laptop has intel core i5 m460
-
bump is anyone still active, to modify the BIOS to allow CPU overclocking?
-
Hi, I want to download the A13.5 for the Dell XPS 1645 with ATI 4670..but i couldn't download it from mediafire..could anybody send me the bios file without the gpu overclock? And maybe also with a little overclock(for example 700/850 or something)
My email adress is [email protected]
Would be very great! -
Yes please can someone reload the links.. Tried searching from Google this is no where available

Would you mind uploading the modded bios files somewhere
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk 2 -
+1 lol.. my cpu doesn't even get warm with AS5 now..so please ;(
I would do it but don't have the files anymore
-
May be if you are using the over clocked bios.. You could extract from your system and upload?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk 2 -
The 13.5W bios isn't overclocked
It's just bios A13 with videobios A09 and some extra options in bios.
I don't have the file anymore - how do I extract?? -
You can use the phoenix bios utility to download/ backup as a file. Is yours with ati 4670 GPU? Appreciate if you upload it for us... Waiting for a reply.. Let me know if you need further help extracting your bios as a file..
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk 2 -
Yes I have 4670, i'll try the bios utility
edit: It seems you can only backup when you flash? -
No you can just back up only.. With the winphlash cracked one. Use the option backup only.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk 2 -
link? I used the 64bit version from the 1st post
You mean the version which allows to flash older bios versions etc? -
Yeah.. First option is to backup and flash.. 2nd option is to backup only
-
I need a link don't have the 'cracked' version
-
here you go,
You can just backup..
https://www.dropbox.com/s/bm6w6q7v8a6jiem/bios flash.rar
-
Still need an original bios or it'll say "no input file found" ;P
I tried to put a fake bios file there but it looked like it was gonna flash then the program crashed -
All,
I'm recently returned from a deployment in Afghanistan. Due to the super-slow personal internet connections there (5-15kbps), I was unable to upload modded BIOSes (connection would time out long before upload completed), so I stopped following this thread. I'm back now, and though I don't plan on spending as much time doing this as I used to, you can send me any outstanding requests or questions and I'll try to get to them when I can.
As for the non-OC 13.5 BIOS: 1645_A13W2_N
C.zip
Edit: and this one requested 2 pages ago: 1645_A13W2_4670_750_900.zip -
Thanks seeker will flash it right away..
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk 2 -
Hey, seeker_moc, can you please re-upload the 1645_A13.5W_4670_ 810_970.zip file? The link does not work..
-
You can adjust the Fan low/fan high trip points in the modded BIOS. In Linux, the changes to the BIOS are correctly reflected in /dev/proc/(acpi trip points? I forget the name of the file, I'm not on a Linux machine right now).
However, IIRC, the fan behavior does not actually change in practice. I beleive it was Kizwan and a few other who think that the fan speed is directly controlled by the laptop embedded controller, and any BIOS settings are bypassed (look back through older posts in this thread for more info). You'd have to find a way to modify the embedded controller instead. There is a lot of information on how to do that on Google if you search, I haven't gotten around to messing with it myself yet.
AFAIK there's no way to do it through the BIOS. All examples I've seen of OCing the i7 CPU in laptops have been through OCing the PLL. Last time I looked, the PLL in the 1645 is not supported by any of the common PLL OCing tools (thogh I haven't looked in over a year). Try looking for one of the programs and trying it out. If not you'd have to figure out which PLL our laptop uses, and contact the developer of the tool and ask him to add support for ours. There was a discussion on this back earlier in this thread as well. -
I really wish my I could OC this i7.. In some games i'm totally bottlenecked because its running @ only 1.8ghz
-
Anyone facing problem with the new ati drivers? I might have to format my c drive..

Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk 2 -
I have the same driver but it works fine for me.. There is a new update for for the 4670, 12.4, maybe that would solve your problem..
-
I'm on 12.3 and no problems
BIOS modding for GPU OC fun and profit!!
