No issue here with that. But 10.6 performed better in my opinion.

If you are having issues with the latest driver, I would go back to the 10.6 version as there is no real noticeable difference in performance.

Sorry to ask the obvious question.. but why not use the Dell version of the ATI driver? Performance is the same on the 4670. The current ATI drivers compared to the Dell ones for the 4670 really only offer additional features for the 5xxx cards, and even then the features aren't THAT amazing.

There's a big difference between sleep and hibernation. If you're getting BSOD or a black screen when waking from sleep then you have a problem. However, hibernation is so buggy I'd probably blame windows before the ATI drivers. Win7 has hibernation disabled by default, and I think it usually cause more problems than is worth for the small power saving. If it's plugged in just let it sleep, and if it's on battery just shut it off. The only situation where I can understand using hibernation is if you're running on battery, and are constantly turning your laptop on and off for several cycles without being able to charge in between.

Well if 10.6 is not working either then I agree to use the dell drivers. I always put my computer to sleep and never use hibernation. Sleep tends to work well for me.

how r u installing the new driver? r u doing a complete uninstall of the old driver with driver sweeper as many recommended?

10.7 works better than 10.5 and 10.6 for me. 10.6 gave alot of sleep problems as many stated. while 10.7 gave better and smoother video and 3d on my games and video. of course, i followed the complete uninstall of old driver b4 using the new one.

There are some major fixes in 10.7 over 10.6 if you have applications that use OpenGL, particularly it fixes most of the graphics corruption (white and flickering textures/animation) that was introduced with the new OpenGL driver in 10.5. I still have a problem with games hanging and speeding up and speeding down, though.. has anyone else experienced an effect similar? Games all will fluctuate ever second from running normally to becoming unresponsive for a second and there's a major FPS drop, I also noticed the GPU temps cycle up and down pretty rapidly between about 79C and 84C (and I'm using very neatly applied fresh coat of arctic silver 5, and previously had no issue with the same - not sure what the issue could be but I'm investigating a possible bad motherboard/heatsink replacement or if there were changes made in the BIOS or graphics card drivers causing it, or some environmental cause).

You're just experiencing GPU throttling. BIOS A08 and A10 throttle at ~84C, and BIOS A09 throttles at 100C, and for that reason, I use A09. Depending on the game, I often go to around 90C. Sounds interesting if some drivers cause the card to run cooler/more efficient.

Gives me more reason to get this system RMA'd again, simple games like Quake Live don't even run without 'throttling'. Got this system from a E1705 replacement which played most games better. :(
