Just wanting to get a handle on what SKU's are actually back-ordered, what parts of the world this affects and what people have been told by Dell representatives about it. Post your location, original order date, estimated date of delivery, current order status, specs and wether or not a Dell rep called to let you know the status if your order is being delayed.

    OOD: Sunday May 30th, 2010
    EDD: Monday June 14th, 2010
    SPEC: See SIG
    STATUS: In Production

Was called by a dell rep yesterday who gave me a new very "informal" EDD, July 13th 2010 but stated I should see the laptop long before that. My order status still hasn't changed on "My Account" @ dell.ca but lists as In Production and I don't think it's gonna get here in 3 business days.

    OOD: 5-28-2010
    EDD: 6-14-2010 UPDATED to 6-11-2010
    SPEC: in sig
Status: in account manger "delivery preparation" when clicked on the order "In production"
    LOCATION: USA

Well Im in the US and I was happy to see my dell get moved up from the 14th to the 11th, but still in production as of now. When I log into my account it says delivery preparation (and has since tuesday) but when I click on it it says in production (I think this has to do with their sysem only having a few status options when viewing an order). I am still hopeful for a friday delivery but then again being a brand new laptop (even though I ordered they day after it came out) I wouldn't be surprised with delays.

You haven't got a call about backorders AND your EDD got bumped up too...that's pretty sweet.

Yeah no call about a delay or anything. I think it might be due to when I ordered and being in the US. I saw a similar situation with thinkpad orders from US and Canada last year.

I have been in e-mail contact with the sr. sales rep that processed my order and he assured me that my system will be here NO later than the 16th of THIS month...which is only 2 days after the original EDD, this makes me very happy. Also my EDD still never got bumped up on the dell website.

Nice! When you receive it, could you run some benchmarks etc to see how well the HD5730 does? I'd love to see some temperatures and watt usages :) And let's hope that the throttling issues will be dissapeared!

My laptop spec are real close to yours liquidxit2 and I ordered on 6/1, then Dell changed my order date to 6/3 and all it has ever said is "In Production."

Here's the rest of what they give me.

Order Date: 6/3/2010 changed from 6/1/2010?
    Order Status: In Production
    Shipping Method: Next Business Day
Estimated Delivery Date: Information Temporarily Unavailable.
    Carrier: Not Shipped
    Tracking Number: Not Shipped

So who knows on the vagueness of this one? It could be one more week or three more weeks

I yearn for my replacement laptop like for the loins of the fairest maiden in these lands who is pristine and untouched by human hands... :p

My sales rep said I will recieve the unit no later than 06/16 (original EDD was 06/14), but as of right now my order is in production still. If it ships tomorrow it may have a chance to make it up here by next Wednesday but who knows.

Well as of 12pm EST I have been a studio XPS 16 user! I love this rig and glad I purchased it. The only sad thing is that dell did not include a recovery OS disc in the box so Ill have to call them. But in all honesty the pre installed windows isnt too bad, and after some tweaking is running like new.

As of now Im installing software while at work, and Ill be sure to run the laptop through its paces shortly.

    Hey liquidxit2,

How is the notebook? Let us know how the gaming performance is going :d

My order in still "in production" and the EDD said it was supposed to be here on Monday, so unless they just didn't update their system (can that even happen?), doesn't look like it will be here until Thursday or Friday next week at the earliest...when I was told multiple times and assured it would be no later than June 16th.

I've never found Dell's EDD date to be accurate. Many times I receive the system before the website even shows that it was shipped.

My EDD was 10th June (w/ ATI 5730), but I didn't get anything. I called them up and they told me it should be here next Wednesday.

So, it could take more than the original EDD as well.

No, that is the problem... I didn't receive anything... I called them up and they said it will take 2-3 more business days for me to receive it, so I am predicting Wednesday the 16th by the latest

Well the only PC gaming I do is older games and WoW. As for wow running at 1920x1080 maxed (minus shadows) I get steady 60fps with vsync. The rig runs kinda warm when gaming and multitasking, but nothing bad. All in all I love this computer and am glad I chose this setup.

As for 3dmark I got 7.3k in 3dmark06 with everything stock from the factory and HW32 open. Im assuming with a clean install and some tweaking and newer drivers I could reach 8k, but all in all Im not too concerned with synthetic benchmarks. I will be doing some more testing as time goes on, but as of now Im just enjoying having a fully functional computer. :)

"Kinda warm" How does this translate in absolute temperatures? Around 75°C ? Or more like 85-90°C like the HD4760?

Attached is a screen shot from HWINO32 while gaming and multitasking. Ambient temp is ~76F or 24.4C. All I can say Is that Im happy I have the new 40NM 26watt GPU compared to a 55NM 35 watt GPU. Stays pretty cool even after extended periods of use. The workstation is running on AC on a lapboard with no cooler.

If you're wondering why the min max temps difference is so slight I opened HWINFO32 just for the screen shot.

Well while light multitasking and installing applications while surfing using wifi I got over 3 hours easily. But then again Im using the 9 cell. I assuming with just surfing and screen turned all the way down I think I could hit 5+ hours. Maybe I might test that tomorrow at work if Im not too busy removing the vent dust covers on the bottom and retesting the temps.

Forgot to update you on this. The rig was shipped with A09. Everything about this notebook is just plain AMAZING. Kinda wish it had a dedicated numpad, but the razer naga I have can do that.

My order was implemented on the 16th and it is still in production... Anyone else waiting still???

My last couple replacements shipped FAST... like 12 hours after order fast...
