    Hi all,

It has come to my attention (via my Dell Account manager and XPS Support), that all the crappy screens have been discontinued and that the only the LG screens will be used now.

This is how this information came by me:

I've been following the debate about the M1530 screens for some time. Thanks to threads here I found out that my brand new M1530 had a screen even worse than the dreaded Samsung... The AU Optronics.
So contacted support and since there where other smaller problems with it they decided to send me a new one. Seeing that would take a while before I get the new one I contacted them and asked them to look into speeding the process up. This is where my Account manger told med that all the bad screens had been taking of the rack and only the LG screens would be used. He even talked about a 2nd generation LG screen, but I don't know if that means anything.

Anyway I live in Denmark and I don't know if this applies to the entire world but I think it's great news.

Looking forward to getting my new laptop next week.... Can't wait = )

I really hope so, I would be so happy if this is true.

BTW: How do you people get such good info? When I talk to people at Dell, I can tell they want nothing more than to get off the phone with me lol

Hope this is the real deal then.

Where do the laptops from Denmark come from?

The thread you cite only addresses 1680 x 1050 screens.

According to Peukon's sources, Dell would be discontinue all the bad M1530 screens (which, presumably would include the bad WXGA and WXGA+ screens).

I hope it's true. If I understand correctly what Peukon has written, Dell would no longer be using bad (i.e, Samsung and AUO) screens to replace screens about which there have been complaints.

It would be nice, of course, if Dell replaced the screens before selling the machines. But I'd be surprised if Dell were willing to tear bad screens out of already built M1530s to spare customers aggravation the first time around.

I actually don't know where my Dell will be made, I know it's not in the UK and I think it's in Finland.

Also I do think that the screen discontinues will regard all the resolutions. Mine is a 1440 x 900 , so it seems that both this and the 1680 x 1050 is confirmed.

Well hopefully this is true for both the WXGA and WSVGA+ screens. Luckliy it seems that the majority of WXGA+ screens are the LG part. I know Dell has got to loosing a lot of profit with these screens. I know we probably a small minority that keeps harping on the subject, but lets face it, the screen in the most crucial part of the system!
