Hey!
Today I saw this beautiful new studio XPS 15z laptops!
The site indicates that they have a battery life of 8 hours? how come my dell studio XPS 16 has only 1.5 hour battery life with 9 cells, when the XPS 15z has 8 hours with only 8 cells?
Can I do something to upgrade my battery life? Or buy some kind of super battery?(I would love a 6 cell, since my laptop seems rather thick with this 9 cell, but 6 cell would only have like half an hour?)

You won't get 8 hours out of it with realistic useage. To get those estimates they do it with the processor on power saver, the graphics on power saver, the wireless off, the screen on minimum etc.
I'd guess that 5 hours should be a reasonable estimate as to what you should be able to achieve though. Also, bear in mind that you've probably got a bit of battery wear now on your current system. -
What CPU/GPU do you have? I get over 3 hours with internet browsing/office/movie watching on my 1645 9-cell. Actually, my power was out all yesterday due to a storm, and my wife and I were able to watch a 1:45 long HD movie on an external HDD with volume and backlight turned up, and it still said 40% battery remaining after it was over. If you're talking gaming than 1.5 hours is normal, and the 15z won't be much better, estimated battery life never applies to gaming.

Given the age of some Studio XPS 16's, the battery is probably shot? 1.5 hours sounds right when running full blast, my Vostro 1500 on a 77 WHr 9 cell gets 1.5 hours on full blast gaming.

Mine is 3 months old. I can never see a full movie on it, even if I sidable my wireless connection. Maybe I just have a half dead battery?
-
Did you get it used? If you have a warranty I'd call Dell and try to talk them into replacing your battery.

Im surprised you got so little battery life. When i got my replacement it came with WLED and i got 4:30 min on balanced lowest brightness. After getting my RGB back it dropped to 3:00 or lower -

Did you buy an OEM battery or a third party one? Use HWMonitor to check for charge wear. -
It's just the battery that was in the package
BTW, Why aren't there Li-Polymer batteries for this laptop? I thought they were far more powerful, and lighter in weight.
