BAttery problems

I bought a new battery off of ebay When i put the new battery in it was compatible with my old charger for about a week. Now when i plug my charger in with my new battery it will not charge my battery. The screenflashes. But when i put the old battery so i can run off of the charger it is fine, I can power off of the charger. But the new battery will run the computer with out the charger please HELP [email protected]

The laptop might not be recognizing the charger anymore. If you hover your mouse pointer over the power icon does it say something like On A/C not charging?

If it does, the BIOS is not recognizing the charger. There is a chip in the power brick that sends a signal down the small center wire of the plug that goes into the laptop. Sometimes that signal gets cut by a bad connection or broken wire. When that happens, the battery will not charge, even if it's good.

The failure point is sometimes in the receptacle on the laptop, but mostly it's a broken wire near the plug that goes into the laptop.

If it's not that, then you probably got a bad battery off E-Bay. Is it a real Dell battery?
