    Gah.

Today when I hit my laptop its HDD broke. :(
Now when booting up the computer you can hear some weird sizzling, clicking and spinning sound and in the middle of booting up it will show BSoD.

Diagnostic also said there is something wrong with the HDD.
At first I had no problems hitting my notebook, for eight months it lasted my punches, but then the battery stopped recharging, few buttons came loose and now this. >: (

So .. other XPS M1530 owners, watch out.
Also, can I still get my data when I get a new HDD? Lulz.

    Thanks.

Wow. How hard did you hit your laptop?!?! Did you take a sledgehammer to the laptop? I doubt you will get your information out of your hard drive without sending it to a data recovery service.

If you are smacking you laptop, get an SSD drive. Then you can smack your laptop all you want without worrying about the SSD breaking.

I may smack my laptop around a bit when it won't work, but never breaking anything.

And no, you can't get your data. If I have something important on my drive...well I don't hit it. You probably smashed the hdd casing into the platters so thats why its clicking and won't work.

Why would you make a post to let us know how much you fail at operating laptops?

    Haha, intresting replies.

No hammers were used to smack the laptop and thanks for the SSD suggestion, I'll be getting one of these then.
Hm, and agusman - internet advertising business does bring nice cash if you're intrested working @ home.

tmaxxtim - so I fail at using laptops because I hit them? Sorry, but I like to smack all my gadgets, I do break some phones occasionally but usually they are all fine.
And yup, Dell support person did say the HDD is completley broke and no way to restore it anymore, god damn it. :(

You fail because you actually hit something hard enough to break the hdd and any 'important' files on it. Obviously they were somewhat important because you are asking how to recover them.

So yes...you fail at laptops if you hit it so hard it craps out your hdd.

Why... why would you hit such a beautiful piece of equipment to begin with? The only piece of electronic equipment I hit in a struggle to make it work properly is my old NES. Which usually works properly only when I hit it...

LOL! I always have to give my N64 a whack before I go to use it, otherwise it just loads a black screen. Once its on and working though its golden.
