It comes out Oct 2 I believe.
Samsung 7 Series
I have been thinking about buying the xps 15/15z for a long time but I think I'm sold on this. I think what I will do is wait until someone buys it and does a review on it just to make sure though.
There's also a 14 inch model

Why they wouldn't put a 1080p display? That battery life sounds too good to be true. -
The samsung series is pretty good but there's some build quality issues usually with like bending/flexing displays and I was interested by that model too but then I thought back to the nightmare that is the 1645 and its atrocious cooling. That has way more power in a much thinner chassis. I think heat might end up being an issue there. Most of this is speculation though and what I've read. The biggest turn off is the resolution. I'm never getting a laptop with under 1920x1080.

Still way better than the 1366x768 junk most manufacturers (including Samsung with their laptops before the 7 Series) are shoving down our throats.
I wouldn't buy it based on personal preference, but it's certainly an acceptable resolution for this screen size. -

Tsunade_Hime such bacon. wow
You aren't going to get everything you want in a notebook for 1k (quad core, discreet graphics, FHD screen, slim Macbook like style chassis). Or for 300-500 more, you can get a real Macbook Pro (considering how expensive 15z gets when you fully configure it), and some people are selling lightly used ones for cheaper. -

It is very slim for such power. The current Macbooks overheat, so if the engineers at Samsung are not magicians or invented some pretty effective cooling system, there is a high possibility that the full power of this notebook can not be utilized.
If you look at all the notebooks which are in the same league powerwise as the XPS15 but are slimmer it will be obvious that it is almost impossible to cram such a powerful HW into a small chassis:
- Macbook Pro - Overheats
- Acer 5830 - Overheats
And this should be even more powerful then those. -

Meh... the only two things I'd want different in the XPS 15 are a stronger GPU and better port placement. Other than that my XPS has everything I want... for now.
I've never been a fan of "thin-books". -
I was contemplating on this laptop but I wonder they are going to handle the overheating issues for such power and thinness...
But, I think my choice of going for XPS l502x is a better decision, namely the beautiful 1080p display and JBL speakers. (I just wish it was a bit slimmer, albeit I don't have it yet...still waiting for it to arrive but I have seen enough review videos and hands on videos) Also, the Samsung keyboard is a bit ugly... However, I give a nod to Samsung their matte screen. I'm kind of sick of glossy. -
ATI graphics, not a chance!
