Laptopmag.com put up a new review of the Sandy Bridge XPS 17-3D and I was kind of suprised at the benchmark comparison charts between the older Envy 17-3d review results vs. the newer XPS 17-3D results.

The XPS seems to get beaten down in the most of the 3D benchmarks, sometimes by almost half. I cant believe how much the ATI 5850 trumps the 555m- something cant be right?

I thought the GT 555 card would be better than the ATI 5850?

Damm, nevermind, I didnt carefully read the paragraphs describing how they tested they XPS with 3D on and compared to the Envy with 3D off. So, the results posted are not fair.
You would think that a well respected site like Laptopmag would try their best to make equal comparison results, not cripple one laptop with 3D on and leave the others normal.

Yes, it seems they are not truly comparing apples to apples. Their 3DMark06 result seems a little low as well for the XPS17. My L702x w/ the GT555M [stock drivers/no over-clocking] has a consistant score of 6,670 in FHD 3D, which is VERY VERY COOL to watch.

Regardless, I like Nvidia simply because more business applications take advantage of their GPU's when compared to the ATI solutions. Specifically, Adobe CS5 and Acrobat X, which is very important to my work.
