Hello, I have searched nearly everywhere but failed to find out best battery setting for my dell xps 15 9530. I even tried to get help from Dell Support but they refused to do so because i have not bought it from Dell US.
So, i hope i will get help here.
I recently bought my new Dell XPS 15 9530 and wanted to better utilize my battery. I find out under Bios Setting there is an option to better use my battery but just got confused.
I have these setting under BIOS:
1. Standard
2. Adaptive
3. Primary Use AC
4. Custom
So, will you guys please help me choose the best option to use?
Note: I prefer using my ac adapter plugged in while using my pc, so which setting will best suit me? Also, i mostly use high performance setting under power option.

Primary Use AC looks to be the obvious choice. Try installing Dell Command | Power Manager which should allow you to change the settings without going into the BIOS.
You may also want to try the balanced power profile. This allows the CPU to adjust speed according to workload which reduces heat and fan activity compared to maximum performance which keeps the CPU running faster. The CPU is able to change its speed in micro seconds.

Thank you Ratsey, just eager to ask, after switching to Primary AC Use, how long should i put in the ac cable after the battery is fully charged?
Also, which one is more healthier for my battery if i set the battery to custom range from 60%-80% and plugin the charger whole time.
Also do you know how to disable vivid mod in windows 10? I couldnot find anywhere in mobility center too. -

If you are normally running on AC then just leave the charger continuously plugged in. The charging will automatically stop once the battery has reached the required charge level. A custom charge range of 60% to 80% might be slightly better for the battery longevity than the Primarily AC profile but there won't be much difference because, from what I've read, the Primarily AC profile doesn't full charge the battery (although it may report it as full).
You can change a number of the display properties by right clicking on the desktop and selecting Personalize. You could try saving your current theme and then create a new one.

Thank you for your very helpful reply, i was wondering if you could guide me how to disable vivid color mode ? -
1) Go into BIOS
2) Set Charger Behavior to Standard.
3) Set charge limits betweeo 40% - 50%.
4) If and when you actually do need to use your battery (e.g. long roadtrip), go back into BIOS, change max battery charge to 100%, and charge your battery to full. When you are done with your trip, go back into BIOS and set the charge limits back to 40%-50%.
LiIon batteries retain their lifespan the best when kept at about 40%. That is the reason why electronics you buy with LiIon batteries (laptops, smartphones) will come out-of-the-box with about 40% charge. Manually configuring your laptop to do this will keep the battery as fresh as possible over time.John Lee likes this. -
thank you for your help i will try that. i cannot set the range to 40-50% as it says invalid range so instead i kept it at 50-60%. Is it good?Last edited: Apr 16, 2016
