I need a lock for my new M1530. I'll be in a college dorm with a roommate. I searched the forums for the best lock for the M1530 (I know "best" might be relative), but could not find any real answer. I know barrel locks are a no-no. Any suggestions?

any kensington lock would do.... those locks are just deterrents, wont take a master thieve more than 5 minutes to unlock it(or use a wire cutter) and take ur laptop away(or even break the xps case and use ur laptop himself)

I got a Defcon CL lock from Best Buy for my M1530. It works with the M1530...how great of a lock it is though is another question. It does provide some piece of mind and security but it's not gonna stop everyone.

very true, its just a deterrent, but some kensington locks like the one i got a long time ago for my toshiba come with an additional peace of mind.

if you register the laptop and lock with kensington, in the event that it is stolen while the lock is in use, they will reimburse you the price of the laptop at that time.

so about now, if my toshiba was stolen, id get around $12.59.

but with a new laptop, of course you would get more. i would hope.
