I love the screen but the viewing angles still don't compare with the Samsung screen I had in my old Satellite 5000 W/1600x1200 display I had 10 years ago. Tilt the 1080 screen back too far the image goes negative real quick...and yes I do have the proper AUO17ED B156HW01 display.

The two are almost even, but the RBGLED can display more colors than the B_RGLED

I am saying on a fairly cheap laptop the screen is great,I'm sure there are better, for instance ips, and samsung makes some pretty great products. I have a samsung plasma and the 8000 series led and they are awesome after calibration. After calibrating, the tv is night and day.I'm just impressed for a laptop in this range to be so nice right out of the box!I have my issues with the XPS but the good performance and the beautiful screen make it much easier to live with,I think.

Actually best screen goes to the HP 8740W mobile workstation's Dreamcolor 2. It is a 16:10 WUXGA RGBLED IPS screen, though it costs about 1000 (550 for an upgrade). Next up would be the Precision M6500/M6400's and Alienware M17xR2's 16:10 WUXGA RGBLED screens. Then the 16:9 RGBLED screens for SXPS 16.

Thats just what i meant by "Im sure some are better" like the hp ips. It's real hard to beat an Ips of good quality.I saw an oled believe it or not it was a sharp oled at 30 inches, they didn't give many details since it was future tech but that was the nicest thinnest screen my eyes have ever seen.Tsunde as always your right on the money with all you suggested, the m17r2 was real nice, and dells precision line always seems to have nice features.I just was so impressed with the xps and its color gamut, especialy since you can get them so cheap now. I configured one for a friend, and after discounts it was about 600 or so cheaper than mine, from june.

There are definitely better screens (marginally IMO) but for the money, the B+RGLED can't be beat. $150 vs. $500+ speaks for itself.

XPS doesn't offer IPS screens, and true RGBLED offers 100-105% color gamut. True B+RGLED beats any old WLED screen...but that's like saying a Ferrari would smash a Civic on the track...compare apples to apples.

"Don't believe the SXPS16 hype. It's RGBLED was a GREAT screen for it's time, but that time is over." ;)

Seriously, when still looking at my RGBLED and my B+RGLED side by side the B+RGLED on the XPS 15 is clearly a better display. I cannot tell a color difference and the sharpness appears equal as well... however, the B+RG whites make the RGB's appear beige and the B+RG blacks make the RGB's look grey. The brightness range on the B+RG simply puts the RGB to shame. They're both great displays, but the RGB just comes up short where it matters in comparison. Enjoy the view. [IMG]
