Considering what an absolutely terrible job Dell has done in "optimizing" the Studio XPS line, forgive me if I don't place any faith in their "driver optimization" team (if they even have one, which might be a lot closer to the truth than you think). I'd rather take ATI's drivers any day over Dell's.
-
wonderful desktop!!!
can you share it with us??
thanks a lot -
If the newer drivers weren't any better then there would be no point in releasing them in the first place. Also, imo I wouldn't place any faith in the dell team, for example think about how (I quote) "the vents on the studio XPS are designed for perfect airflow". How I see it, the dell dirvers are "optimised" in the sense that they hold back the system to stop it from getting too hot, to the average (and average usually comes with dumb attachted) user, heat and annoying battery life is probaby more of a concern than a few extra FPS in a game. We're quite privelaged here in that wer have a huge collection of intelligent, computer savvy people, however the public at large isn't as in the know, I'm pretty sure if you went to any member of the public and asked if they knew some acronyms like FSB or FPS, they'd all be pretty blank faced.

The drivers say what they fix and improve in the release notes. The past 5 or so versions (up to 10.4) don't affect the 4670. I haven't looked at the 10.5 beta and 10.6 alpha.
-
lol, absolutely wrong. again. each one of the drivers fix many-many issues, improve and add new features. i just don't get if you're so ignorant in this topic, why do you try convince people who are actually well-informed with your bullsh*ts constantly?

Alright, good. You're learning to read the release notes. However, I still believe none of apply to the 4670. For example, H.264 Level 5.1 support... Did the 4670 not have this before the update, and now it does? I don't think so.
Even if one of those features actually affect the 4670, it doesn't really matter. The topic at hand here is about performance. Those video game performance improvements listed in the release notes are not relevant. Improves X framerate by X% for 5xxx. There's plenty of that in the past several releases, but what's your point? -
Why waste time arguing about it.
Why don't you guys just put them both to the test and we shall have the answer!!!!! -
yeah, i learned that long time ago, unlike you.
in fact, everything applies to 4670 except of the few things where it's mentioned it's only for HD5000 series, etc.
in fact, yes. with 10.3, none of L5.1 videos supported DXVA, and with 10.4, all of them works like a charm with GPU accelerated DXVA. me and many others tried it, it's a fact. it's possible you "don't think so", but that only confirms that you have no idea what are you talking about which we already knew long time ago. 10.4 finally made ati cards a fully-capable htpc which we have waited so long, it is a great step forward.
it doesn't matter that it gives you new features and improves performance?? are you serious? then what DOES matter?
alright, i'm not here to argue, i'm here to help people which driver to choose like i already said, but let's make this clear, i won't let you misguide people. they are here for help, not for reading your bulls*ts all the time. everytime you said something here trying to argue with me, it turned out, that you were wrong. every time. all along. just like this time. you said there "The past 5 or so versions (up to 10.4) don't affect the 4670." you lied. again. it's a pure fact. in fact, tha latest catalyst alone changes much more than you said and you ever imagined. you have no idea what are you talking about, and despite this and that you were proven wrong many times, you still have the greatest mouth i've like ever seen on a forum. i'm sick and tired of your bullsh*ts. i'm done with you. find a forum where ignorant people are the cool guys, and take your ignorance with you. good bye. -
Awesome! Thanks for taking one for the team. I will be waiting for the results as everyone else. I am quite anxious.
-
you have problems with name calling and not being able to speak like a reasonable and intelligent human being.
On that fact alone, please give me every piece of advice you've got on life so i can make sure to do the exact opposite. -
you're just as ignorant, as your friend. being stupid that you and your friend represent is a bad thing. but there's a much worse thing: being stupid but thinking that you're smarter than anyone and having the greatest mouth to blow the world away with your bullsh*ts. this is just one of the worst thing you can do. and that's exactly what you're doing here so be proud of yourself.
-
No.
What I did here was make a prediction and speculation, both of which turned out to be correct. You on the otherhand were wrong. Call it what you want but at the end of the day you're a whining kid. How old are you anyways, 12? I wouldn't be surprised. Don't respond to any more of my posts, I dont have time to talk to walls. -
yeah, and i don't have time for ignorant trolls. just FYI: you were wrong in everything you said here.
-
Guys lets just let the results speak for themselves, shall we?
-
omm.. if you look back what he said, you will see: there's no need for results, all he said was just clearly wrong, nobody questions that who has any clue about vga drivers.
-
Anyone vote for closing this thread?
-
Heck no, it's better than General Hospital or Days of our Lives.
-
Okay...we are done here.
Results have been posted, so continue discussion in that thread.
