    I have going away on holiday with the family and will be taking my XPS 15 with me so I can play some videos/movies for my son.
    Which is the best cable to buy to connect to a TV? Would a standard HDMI cable suffice?

    Yes, HDMI is the simple and sensible way to do it. If you have an old TV without a HDMI port you will need an adapter.
