    Hi All,

Applying the dell bios update seems to have bricked my laptop, it boots to a blank screen with fans on full.

I've created a Crisis recovery usb, but can't get my laptop to boot it. Can someone confirm that the Crisis recovery process works on th 15z and the that the key combinations is fn+b.

    Thanks in advanced.

Edit: I've followed the instructions posted http://forum.notebookreview.com/dell-xps-studio-xps/451601-bricked-xps-1645-help.html here, and have disconnected my hard drive and optical drive with no luck :(

Also I've tried three different usb keys with no luck

I've given up the bios recovery route, tried an assortment of usb drives and a floppy disc none would boot. Created the Crisis disc on windows xp, and its bootable on my desktop (get a message Crisis Recovery Disc in Dos).

So I've called Dell, they'll send out an engineer to replace my motherboard, I have installed a SSD and a second hard drive in the optical bay, would this affect my warranty? or are these classed as user replaceable parts.

The SSD is usually considered upgradable, however the optical drive caddy will probably have voided your warrenty. However if you change it back to the old drive, they'll never know.
