Do not upgrade... the upgrade killed my motherboard, I dont know what happened. I as installing it fine then it was totally unresponsive and would not shut off. I then had to take away the power supply and now Dell is coming to replace my motherboard :-(

lol...this JUST happened with the m15x's newest BIOS.

Wonder if this is just an isolated case or, like in AW's case, a huge problem.

    From Dell's website...

    Enhance brightness function.

I'm sure there's more than that.

Ok... The tech came and replaced the motherboard. I looked to see the ICS on the CPU but there was none. I was looking for the ICS for overclocking lol. Did I miss it?

It worked fine here, but I dind't recognize any "enhanced brightness function".. I still have to adjust the brightness after a stand by. Each time I open the lid the brightness defaults to maximum.

I think the brightness fades gradually from level to level now like HP's. I don't think it did this before.

Installed it here 2 nights ago before seeing this thread. No issues. My power options seem to stay static now and I no longer need to reset my power scheme each time I reboot.

Yep, just bricked mine upgrading from A11 to A12 on a clean install of Win7 x64. Laptop had been running hotter than usual tonight, then it froze, got hotter so I powered it off (after about 25 minutes of waiting).

Turned it back on, got the 3 flashing volume lights, so emailed tech support as it was 1am!

Not to happy about it - I think I'll get it fixed and sell it to buy something else that runs cooler, weighs less and doesn't chew a battery in an hour!

man, I'm still using A08 lol. only upgraded once last summer from A07, and that was the only time I flashed a BIOS on this. All these stories about BIOS killing the XPS is shying me away from upgrading at all. Why can't Dell make reliable BIOS updates?!?!?! *sigh*...let's hope for a good A13......

    Hi.

I just tried to install this bios, but when I rebooted and looked at msninfo32, it says that my current bios is A12 11/19/09 when it should be A12 1/5/10 (the latest one).

Why is this happening? Anyone else have this problem?

    Thanks.
