    Hey guys,

I got the XPS 1645 with the Blu-ray Burner (in Europe). Does anybody know if this player is region-free?

And if not is there a firmware update or some type of way to make it region free so that I can play region A (US) discs too?

    Thanks guys,

So just like DVD drives... But isn't there a way to get an unlimited number of changes? I remember back when I was more savvy about changing these things in the early days of DVD this was possible.

And a firmware hack or update would be more welcome than a software hack.

Anybody with some more info, or somebody who's been playing about with this on their blu-ray drive?

I have read somewhere about a firmware crack for a mata BDR that unlocked it but its open now so i dont see the point of risking your drive...

you were fortunate to be able to get the red w/ leather... i tried and tried..
