I have a recently purchased 1730 that came installed with XP Pro with Bonus VISTA upgrade disks. I would prefer to not install the VISTA.
Will the Dell Wireless 355 Bluetooth Module work with the XP Pro? I have seen earlier posts in this forum where some users have claimed to have this module in their 1730's along with XP originally installed and all was working OK.
I did see mention of some users downgrading back to XP from VISTA and therefore the drivers were lost.

Since this is a new system with XP Pro installed, I do not have to downgrade.
The Dell site states that the 355 requirements are all VISTA. It is difficult for me to believe that it will NOT work with XP since XP has been around for so long.

Can anyone share some advice with me?

    Thank you.

If you have the right drivers I dont see why it should not work. And since it came with XP Pro preinstalled, it should be working.. have you tested it?

I am using my M1730 with XP pro right now and with a logitech MX1000 laser mouse and it works great, I just downloaded the drivers for theWireless 355 bluetooth module from Dell's web site.

I suspect you will be limited to using the standard 1.2 Bluetooth protocol. The new V2.0 with EDR which the 1730 has, probably will only function under Vista. Things like mice and keyboards should have any trouble.

Thank you, fonduekid, for the reply. I have not tested it as I do not have the part installed yet. A Bluetooth module was not offered as part of the Build process and so I did not have the Bluetooth installed at the time of ordering.
After spending 45 minutes or so online with Dell Technical Support Chat, it was recommended to me to buy this one:
    Wireless 355 Bluetooth Module for Dell Inspiron 6400/ 9400/ E1505/ E1705 / XPS M1710 Laptops , Manufacturer Part# : GK103 | Dell Part# : 430-1795

And then I was instructed to go to the Drivers site and download the Drivers.

Sounds simple enough. Could it really be this "easy" ??
