    Hi,
I have just noticed that my bluetooth isn't working properly. i don't know if it was for installing SP2. today when i was trying to send a pic to my mobile by right clicking> send to>bluetooth device, it couldn't find my device. even i didn't see that it was searching for devices. normally i used to send item by this way. then i tried to send something from my mobile to computer. my mobile has found com and after clicking that message(Click on that message to receive the item) on the computer nothing happened. my mobile was peared with my computer b4. i can still see the W910 icon under computer along with my drives, cd rom, nero scout and personal safe. as a troubleshoot, i uninstalled it clearly and reinstall the latest driver which is R216468.exe. but the same thing. then i uninstalled it and reinstalled back the previous driver R140135.exe. i also tried to send item from control panel bluetooth as someone might advice me to.

plz help me to get my bluetooth working back again as normal as it was.

There is a thread on this page or a few pages back with info on fixing the problem (you need a patch from the Dell site).

I assumed for the last year that my bluetooth card was broken until I came across the patch :)

I have a XPS M1330 running Vista 32-Bit SP2. It uses the same bluetooth module the M1530 uses: Dell Wireless 355.

With Vista SP2 Microsoft introduced a couple of changes to the bluetooth stack. These changes were previously available as the optional Vista Wireless Feature pack (dell didn't ship it with the XPS M1530 and didn't support it):
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/942567

These changes to the bluetooth stack are incompatible with the Widcomm (= acquired by broadcom) bluetooth version 6.0.1.3100 that dell ships. Vista SP2 compatibility (read: Wireless Feature pack compatibility) has been introduced in 6.0. 2.xxxx driver line. It's visual appearance is much nicer as well and it introduces additional bluetooth profiles.

Anyway: First install some Dell Bluetooth software. That's important otherwise you'll get some licensing issues. I guess you have done that already since it worked before. Next update to 6.0.2.9200. You can get it here. It's a generic release without customizations and should run fine:
    http://forum.anycom.com/index.php?topic=2494.0
Don't ask me why they use a rapidshare link this time. Previously (and you may try these as well) they just had them on their ftp server:
    http://forum.anycom.com/index.php?topic=2476.0
    ftp://drivers.anycom.com/beta/usb200-250-500-550/

Currently I'm on 6.0.2.8900 and it works fine. In case you get problems with the 6.0.2.9200 - although I doubt that - you might try some older 6.0.2.xxxx line versions off their ftp server.

I would recommend to just "update" your 6.0.1.xxxx installation. Don't deinstall it, just run the 6.0.2.xxxx setup tool. It will update all componts and ask for a restart. This way you won't get any licencing issues.

Do make a system restore point before! Just in case something goes wrong. Installing these kinds of drivers is kind of invasive.

The purpose of the patches that were already posted here in this thread namely these
    http://support.dell.com/support/dow...-1&impid=-1&formatcnt=1&libid=5&fileid=213714
    serve a particular purpose:
You tried those and it didn't seem to have a positive effect.
MICROSOFT_WINDOWS-VISTA-SP1-_A01_R204794.EXE is the Wireless Pack that is part of SP2 already. Though you installed in already - it might be worth a try to reinstall those as BatBoy suggested.

R216468.exe is v6.2.0.8500 which doesn't seem to help since you mentioned having tried that in your first posting.

Any more recent widcomm/broadcom version is supposed to work. I just upgraded by BT 355 to v6.2.0.9200 you to make sure it runs fine and it does with SP2.

It looks like you tried everything and nothing helped. You may try some things again, but it's unlikely it helps. I don't have a clue, but I've read about some people whose bluetooth module got loose. You might also want to try to reseat it:

An important part to this is that you should first UNINSTALL all references to Bluetooth devices in your device manager as well as the main bluetooth software. I also suggest running CCleaner's registry sweep as well.

Once this is done, then move forward with the install. I listed R21648 since its the most recent installer available.

I do this always. i have got ccleaner, vista manager and also RegCure. so what i did is i uninstalled previous Bluetooth software with revouninstaller, then did clean all the junks and registry and installed the new one which is v6.2.0.9200. but nothing helps me. even b4 installing service pack2 i had my mobile (SonyEricsson W910i) paired with my machine. still i can see that icon under CD/DVD RomDrive. it's not paired any more. but whenever i reinstall the bluetooth soft, it comes back. plz help me to get rid of this thing and fix my bluetooth.

I installed service pack 2 on my 1530 without any problems at all, you can try switching on and off the wireless switch, if that don't work, go into your device driver tab and check to see if there are any yellow exclamation marks by anything, if there is, that means there is a driver missing, then just reinstall the driver from your drivers disc or the Dell support website.

thnx for ur effort mate, but i know these basic things. everything is alright in device manager. u can't imagine how many times i reinstalled this bluetooth in different versions. every time i clearly uninstalled them including registry and left over component b4 installing another version.

my problem is it doesn't search for other devices and even when i try to send something from my mobile..it could find the bletooth from the computer but there is no action after clicking on that vary text. i don't know what's wrong going on with my lappy. even my WEI is also not working. help me guys..

This could be one of the problems... not to sound like an a$$hat, but I have never heard of RegCure or Vista Manager. CCleaner is enough - no need to use multiple registry cleaners. Just my 2 cents.

I performed roughly 20 installations of different versions of widcomm on M1330 and another 20 installations on different notebooks, because I was tracing a bug. I went back and forth between different driver revisions and never used any registry cleaning tools. Never had any problems doing it this way.

In case you have the chance to connect an external USB bluetooth dongle that you can borrow, you can check easily whether you have a hardware problem (broken BT 355, discarded firmware on BT 355, physical loose connection) or installation problem. I have an external bluetooth stick that works with widcomm as well once it's installed and it helped me already to trace some issues.

You say: Your BT 355 seems to work, but you don't see any devices. You don't know whether the "old pairings" (= those done before upgrade to SP2) still work and you can't perform new pairings of devices, since they do see either other. Is that the observed behavior?

b4 upgrading my vista ultimate to sp2 my BT used to work perfectly. though i had a couple of minor issues, but once i reinstalled the driver the problem was sorted out. at that time i paired my laptop to my mobile (SonyEricsson W910i).
anyway, just a couple of weeks ago...(at that time sp2 was already installed) i wanted to try to send a photo from my laptop to mobile. so i right click on that vary photo and click on send to BT. so the small windows appeared. but it didn't seem searching for devices. so far i have reinstalled the different versions but all r the same.

SO THE SUMMARY OF THE PROBLEM IS BT IS NOT WORKING AT ALL. I CAN'T SEND ITEM FROM MY MOBILE TO COMPUTER NEITHER FROM COMPUTER TO MOBILE THR COMPUTER AND IN FACT IT (COMPUTER) DOESN'T EVEN SEARCH FOR THE DEVICE AS I CAN NOTICE.

I have tried multiple installations as well. the only driver i have found to be working so far is the Dell_Wireless-355-Bluetooth-_A01_R127314 5.0.1.2609 when SP2 is installed. Currently downloading Dell file R161378.exe from dell and will be testing this as well. I remember this one working at one point, gonna test again tho. R161378.exe is Widcomm driver 5.1.0.3400

Any broadcom or dell file the starts with 6 will not work...so far...

? - 5.0.1.801 Unknown - I figured this may be to old, since i had a good file that was newer
    + - 5.0.1.2609
    ? - 5.1.0.3400 testing
    X - 6.0.1.3700
    X - 6.0.1.5300
    X - 6.0.1.6300
    X - 6.0.1.6400

i originally had balloon prompts turned off via a registry hack. I turned on balloon prompts for the start menu bar and I would get a balloon that stated a device wanted to connect and that i should click this balloon and allow the device to connect or enter a pin. on the 5.X.X.XXXX version this would go about normally and the 6.X.X.XXXX version the secure connection prompt would not show up and the device i wanted to pair would still be waiting for the computer to send back the pin to verify it. so if anybody knows how to make that little prompt come back or actually pop up then the problem is fixed to that point.

Found that you must have already installed a later version in order to properly install 5.1.0.3400 for this is merely an upgrade release. But it is funtional so far...
Next I will test installing over or upgrading to 6.0.1.3700 from 5.1.0.3400... here goes...

I'm having exactly the same problem with the bluetooth on my M1730. I tried the Dell site and nothing. Any help would be great.
