Ok, I'm using a Platronics 590E bluetooth headset with my xps m1530 and it works so well my Roommate wants to get one. Well, my question is this, can you be within 30 feet of another laptop using the same bluetooth headphone or bluetooth mouse? I'm assuming you can just assign it a different key so there wouldn't be any interference with each other? Is that right? I know this probably has an obvious answer, I just needed to hear it from someone else. Thanks

I'm guessing that it'll work fine, assuming that you don't actually pair your respective headset with each others notebooks. Two guys can sit next to each other with BT headsets paired to their respective cell phones, so I don't see why a notebook would be any different.

    Hey!
The only thing necessary is for the second headset to pair just like the first one did. The key only affects the pairing at that moment for security authentication. Bond your headset to your laptop device and no one can interfere with your connection.
The bluetooth signal constantly modulates between bonded devices to insure no interference from nearby devices.

Remember the relationship is between the two devices.
    1) Bluetooth headset@ devicename
    2) Bluetooth laptop@ devicename

You actually set the bluetooth software in the laptop device to not accept other devices without prompting/not at all.
How you configure the "laptop device setup"will determine your options.

You just need to pair them with the respective notebooks. It wont interfere with each other.
