So I just got my XPS m1530 literally 5 days ago. On the first day I got it, I decided to try Bluetooth with my cell phone, and it worked fine, I was able to add it and I was able to transfer files and everything. So I decided to buy a bluetooth wireless notebook mouse 5000 off ebay, it's OEM but brand new.

As soon as I got it, I tried to get Bluetooth to detect it, and it didn't work! Not even my cell phone showed up on the devices list. And when I clicked Add Device, nothing shows up.... not even my cell phone. And yes I did click the Connect button on the bottom of the mouse.

Another weird thing about it is that, when I click Bluetooth File Transfer, by default it says Send File To: SGL-XXXX which is my phone... and when I click send... it works! But when I click Browse to search for more devices, it says nothing can be found.

It's like my bluetooth stopped working, and I know it's on because the bluetooth light is on! I honestly don't think I did anything to ruin the bluetooth, and I know its not broken because I'm still able to send files to my cell phone, it just won't detect anything.

Any help is greatly appreciated, I've been damn well frustrated for the past day and a half or so trying to figure it out.

Maybe you turned the "other devices can discover this" on a phone? And mice (and other BT devices) usualy need some button to be pressed in order to "pair" it to a PC.

PS. I think your BT is fine, because you can send file using it.

What do you mean by turned the other devices can discover this on a phone? Isn't that what I would want?

I know, and I pressed the button on the bottom to make it search for a connection. Theres a bluetooth "pairing" button on the bottom that I have been pressing and it flashes red and green which signifies that its searching. I know its not the mouse because my cell phone can detect BOTH my laptop and mouse. But my laptop cannot detect either of them.

Any help is greatly appreciated, it will make me sleep better at nights haha

Well... In this case - if I were you - I'd phone tech support and make them work it out. They must be better at this than me or anyone here - they've learned how to do things, and, hey, they get their money for that!

PS. As someone wrote here, think of it as a car purchase: if you get a car, and something (say - radio) doesn't work - whould you go online and ask everyone "why isn't my radio working?"? Or would you go to/call up the service and say: hey, I've paid you money for support - now go give me it!
