Hello everyone, I just received my new DELL XPS 16 from Dell by ordering online. I very much like this laptop, I even ordered it despite all its noted flaws but mine happened to ship with a flaw that now i'm not so happy about. At first I thought my laptop had a bump where the audio controllers are but I figured that it was raised to be more accessible in the dark or something since you can feel it but after a quick google verification, it seems this is a trait that sometimes occurs when these laptops ship.

Anyway, enclosed is a relevent, high resolution pictures of my laptops raised touch sensitive strip area. Please confirm this is a flaw and if possible, how best to fix it.

Thank you in advanced! P.S. I posted this thread on Dell's community forums and I have yet to receive an answer, so I am anxious to receive one here!

Either make them replace that part (in home), ship it to them to replace that part, request a system exchange, or return and re order.

Dell probably used the wrong size screw again raising the touch board up.

Directly contact Customer care and tell that you just got the laptop and it is damaged and you wont troubleshoot, you just want a full new replacement.

Why couldn't Dell get this laptop right. It has so many great features, and isn't an absurd, childish looking gaming laptop. It's very adult and sleek.

So many problems with this laptop, even the quality of the leather. There's like rough marks like its almost been scuffed.

Grrr. Seriously thinking about returning this laptop and waiting for something better. I am so sad. This laptop would've been perfect, I swear to you, perfect if it hadn't had such design and build quality problems.

Damnit Dell. Why did you have to do this?

I can't see any option to select the Dell XPS 1647 (i7 920 - dual core).

Do you think it is a realistic goal for them to accept an exchange for a Dell XPS 1647, /w RGBLED1080p, Blu-Ray, and 3 year extended warranty or whatever for my 1645 so that they can keep my money?

If they would do that, i'd be extremely happy/satisfied if they actually ship me one that is defect-free.

The i7 in the 1647 is the 620m dual core, no such thing as a 920 dual core(only a i7 920xm quad core for laptops, and i7 920 for desktops

    Oish. That's not good.
You can contact Customer Care. But they are only open , today from 10am - 7pm CT, 1-800-624-9897

Or, you can hop on Chat today it is open..and point blank tell them you received a brand new system with flaws. You are within your 21 days. You are able to receive a new replacement, or a refund.

    Returns:
You can return a Dell order within 21 days of the invoice date.
If you wish to return a Notebook, Desktop or Dell TV please call Order Support on 1-800-624-9897.
    Return Policy

Chat will prolly try and have you get it all fixed. It's up to you.

Being it's a brand new system with all those flaws, I would make them send me a "new system". That's your right. Or, you can send it back, get a refund ~ and start anew with a new order! ;)
