Just received my brand new m1330.
    t9300
    4GB
    led lcd
    Nvidia 8400
    SSD hd
    etc

When ever I start the computer the bios screen either has about a 3 inch wide white bar going down the right side of the screen or the screen is all garbled and flickering. It only does this until it gets to the windows scroll bar load screen and goes back to normal.

Also this thing has a high pitch whine coming from it. I see many others have this problem. Is this fatal in the long run?

    THanks

I got the same configuration as you, apart from me having a 320gb 5400rpm sata drive.

I got the high pitched noise, both before and after changing my motherboard to a new rev. The new motherboard got a broken GPU or something, because whenever I install ANY 8400M GS drivers I can't boot my laptop, it gives me hardware errors/BSOD or garbled screen.

I have to start the computer in safe mode, uninstall the drivers and then restart again. Bad thing is that windows update has already downloaded the 8400M GS driver, so even if I disable windows update it gets auto installed every time I restart vista, so I have to go through the safe mode boot every time I use the laptop.

Well, getting a replacement within two weeks.

Well, i would say, get a new one, if its under 21 days from the date you received it, call tech support and ask to get a brand new replacement, make sure to tell them you want a brand new! Just in case.

When you spend alot of money on a computer you should have no problems when you first get it.

Well after owning the unit for less than 24 hours it is being sent back for replacement.

I found several other issues with the unit including:

Start up boot screen was distorted with large white boxes and flickering.
Loud whining sound coming from the keyboard area.
playing music from itunes resulted in sound stuttering periodically
bring the computer out of sleep mode resulted in a large 3 inch white bar down the right side or the screen flickering with distorted white boxes all over the desktop.
once in a while the system would stutter when you opend and close programs or menus. It didn't have a smooth transition.

I'm thinking most of these issues are graphics card related becuase it happens in the bios and windows. Hopefully the next system will run better. I should have a replacement within the next two weeks.
If the next system exhibits any issues at all I'm getting my money back.
    Wish me luck!

I have the identical specs, ssd and all, and none of the issues you described. My laptop is less than a week old.
