Is there any way to fix this, or will I need to replace the screen?
(the white background is just a full screen image so you can see the pixels - the rest of the laptop is fine)

i dont think its fixable, but you can try JScreenFix - Fix stuck pixels and image persistence

It's more likely to be the video card than the screen. You could try an external monitor. If you get the same result, then its the video card.
Bunch of messed up pixels just showed up on my screen...
