I sold my sony vaio z540 not too long ago for the sxps 13 which i have right now. I miss the "feather" weight of the Z. It felt like paperweight compared to the xps13. Why is this laptop so heavy? Is it in the actual build material? Or is it because of poor design? The leather backing on the sxps is pretty nice but in terms of ruggedness and something to grab on, the Z takes the cake on that one as there are some rigid lines on the battery so you can get a good grasp on the whole laptop. I also noticed that there is a big difference between the two LED panels. The colors on the Z is much more vibrant or maybe because I got a dud for a screen on the XPS. I can honestly not adjust to the color saturation the Z possessed.

The reason why I bought the XPS was because of the style and a fresh new breath from the classic Z style keyboard layout (simple but plain). The XPS with it's backlit keyboard is a plus for me but I do not mind the indented keys on the Z either. Fingerprints was no issue on the Z but man oh man, the XPS is a magnet to fingerprints. From the palm rest area to the media key button panel and the cover. I've given up on cleaning the machine. It's almost impossible to keep it clean. It would have been nice if Dell had put maybe a matte-like touch strip across the cover where you use you fingers to open the laptop screen.

I see the Z as being probably one of the best business laptops around

The XPS 13 is more my style. Young, hip, sexy. Well not much of that sexy part but still it's different than most of the laptops I've encountered.

Is xps1340 screen really that dull? I sold my last generation white macbook to buy this laptop, I dont think this screen is any worse than macbooks maybe even a lil better? But I never had a sony computer...

The Macbook color looks like the SXPS 13. But the Sony led screen looks more vivid and lively...

is there any chance that the sony had ati card in it? a lot of people report more vivid colors and better saturation with ati cards.... also what if you up ur saturation a lil in the settings does that help?

The Sony Z is known for its great screen quality. Its 1600x900 resolution, high nit, and non-reflective yet with great color. The SXPS 13 can't compete in the slightest.

The Sony Z comes with the nVidia 9300m, similar to the SXPS 13's 9500m. The video card has nothing to do with the visual difference hes talking about, its just a simple fact that the SXPS13 has an average screen, while the Sony is amazing.

I don't know what compelled you to trade the Z for the SXPS 13. The SXPS is heavier, has a much worse screen, known for heat problems, and isn't a business-quality notebook like the Z is, meaning it isn't as durable. Not to mention the weight, the SXPS 13 is a damn bowling ball for a 13 incher at 4.9 lbs, that is ridiculous.

I have always said the SXPS 13 is a bad choice... the 16 had great features, but the 13 left alot to be desired all around.

^^ LOL look at this xps13 hatter. I think personally Dell lowered their margin in laptop quality, not xps13 but most of dell laptops, the only smart thing they did is co-sign alienware
