I want to replace my current hard drive which is 7200rpm 500gb seagate with SSD. Problem is on vista scoring chart there is either lower ranked ones or high ranked ones. obviously i want something higher ranked that my current Hard drive score of 5.9
My question is where can I buy the most affordable and best bang for a buck??

How did you overclock your P8600 ? And what consequences will there arise after the overclock ? (Less battery life ? More heat ? Less stability ?)
-
as far as heat. i never had a big issue with it. but i did thermal paste on cpu and copper modded the gpu. by temps never go higher than 67 and thats after 1 hour of playing crysis. when im not sterring it my cpu is like 40C and gpu is like 45-50C. As far as overclocking I dont do it to the point where my system crashes. for example. I have 2.4ghz processor i pushed it til 2.7gh at 2.9 it gives me blue screen. gpu i overclocked from stock 450/110 to 500/200 since its an integrated low budget card there isnt any point at pushing it more. You can overclock all of this by downloading nvidia's performance tools. go to nvidia.com then go to download drivers and on that page you'll see option to download performance tools. i suggest downloading drivers from them rather than dell.com that might let you overclock the 9200 card that is if you have 9500 combo.
My system has never crashed do to me overclocking it -
Commander Wolf can i haz broadwell?
Any SSD with a Samsung, Indilinx, or Intel controller will blow your current HDD out of the water. For the most part, just stay away from JMicron controllers, and you'll be fine. You won't see any improvement in Vista's WEI, as WEI doesn't rank anything past 5.9, and not, by any measure, a good benchmark tool in the first place.
I'd give the best bang for buck award to the 80GB Intel X25-M G2 IF you can find it at its MSRP of $230ish. Else, go for a 60/64GB Indilinx. -
1st. I have posted similar threads (please dont delete this one just tell me how to delete my old ones i cant find that option anywhere!!! IM NOT TRYING TO SPAM).
Now my question.
I have a 13 inch laptop (info in signature)
I want to upgrade to ssd, but i see most of them are very small whats my best option since i want to upgrade from my 500gb 7200rpm. My main reason is fast os boot times and apps speed.
Thanx! -

Get a smallish SSD for OS and programs and some small files. Buy an external enclosure for your 500GB drive.

that laptop takes standard 2.5" HDs. newegg has several 256GB ones for around $600-$700. i have the corsair 256gb that is based off the samsung and it is fast and has worked good for me for about 6 months now.
the newer OCZ ones have TRIM if you plan on getting win7. i had the OCZ core v1 and had all the problems that everyone else had and OCZ denied so i didnt go with OCZ again. -
But whats TRIM? 600-700 is pretty expensive. I think Im not suppose to post links here. On ebay I saw: Samsung 128GB SSD Solid State SATA II 2.5 laptop for $265 Brand new. Is this legit? I thinks thats a good price for ssd that size isnt it? If you can take a look just type ssd and it'll be the 1st one.
I just want to confirm is this a better upgrate from my 500gb 7200rpm seagate? plus that should fit my laptop with no problems right? -

The cheapest good SSD out there right now is probably the OCZ Agility, you can get a 120gb version of it for a "good" price.
Anythong on ebay is probably overpriced, chances are the SSD your talking about is one of the older/slower ones with issues that can make it slower than your HDD. -
