    Hi Friends

Should I place the order for SXPS16 online or through a Dell agent ?

I had a chat with a agent today and asked, If he can give some discount on my online config ? He was ready to give discount of $50 on $1250 config and $75 on $1394 config ! Is it worth (means should I bargain more with him :) ) and safe to place the order through the agent ?

Unfortunately till now there is no substantial discount offered from Dell for black Friday or holiday season :(

    Thank you.

I think if you not need it urgent you should wait some time

Yes.....I'm doing that only. I can wait few days for few $ :)
But as I asked ...Is it better to place the order through the agent to save extra $ ?

If you have phone skillz then definitely go through an agent, they will match whatever the price is online and could get you more if you ask persuasively :)

Yup that sounds about right. I got $75 off my order. Just to keep in mind, the agents do have the capability to see if youve called before trying to look for a deal. The 2nd agent I called seemed annoyed that I was haggling and even confronted me about calling earlier and speaking with another rep about getting a better deal.

I'd say go online...it's easier than dealing with the idiots at Dell.

I'd call. Maybe not to get a discount on upgrades, but to at least get free next day shipping. Plus, in my case, the rep I spoke with regularly called me to give me updates on the status of my order.

Any specific reason for that ? Ultimately we will get the final config what we have configured online. Then if we are getting extra $ bonus on the final price, I think we should go for that, If there is nothing odd about placing an order through an agent.

Dealing with Dell Home is an exercise in futility. You might save a few bucks but you are going to waste a lot of time.

    Hi!

Here is a great thread for you to peruse regarding dealing with a Dell Phone Rep! & Getting a good deal! :)
A How-To on Making The Best Computer Deal

If the Chat Rep, wants to give you the best deal, he will work with you, to secure the "sale".

Also, you can configure your specs online, "save it to your cart" dial a Rep...and ask them "what is the best deal they can give to you" beyond whats in your cart, to secure a sale, today!

Some peeps either have a good experience with a Dell phone Rep or they don't. Sometimes you have to call back several times to get the best deal. :)

    Cin...

That's exactly what I do. Have them pull up the cart and then they discount on top of what you have. However, go through every single line carefully when you get your order listing to catch any mistakes. The sooner the better and the less delay on getting the corrected order.
