I'm trying to install Vista x64 as per the instructions in this thread: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=236361
I created the ISO from the files I got from this thread: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=240320
When I try to install Vista, after I choose the regional and language settings, It brings up the driver installation window and tells me that "A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing. If you have a driver floppy disk, CD, DVD, or USB flash drive, please insert it now. Note: if the Windows installation media is in the CD/DVD drive, you can safely remove it for this step"
When I click OK, it says that "No device drivers were found" I figure it may have something to do with the AHCI drivers, but when I browse to the correct 64-bit drivers and hit next, it still says that no drivers were found.
Am I just not installing the right driver? According to all the installation guides, I shouldn't even be getting this window. Maybe I created the bootable DVD wrong?
When I put in the 32-bit Vista DVD from Dell, I do not get that window telling me that I don't have any CD/DVD drivers.

Just figured it out. I simply wanted to reinstall the OS without using Dell's advertisement filled restore image (Diagnostic tools/Messed up partitions/Hardware related startup Apps).
Go to the Dell Support page for 64-bit drivers.
Expand "Input Device Drivers" and download the "ITE - Device" driver for the IT8512 CIR Receiver Device.
Extract the compressed content.
There is a folder called "INFDrv"
under that there is a folder called "64OS".
The contents of the "64OS" folder is what it wants. Throw that on a USB stick and provide it to Vista when it prompts about the DVD drive.
I also strongly recommend you provide the ATA driver for AHCI support at this step prior to beginning the OS install. It is located in the "MCP79 Chipset" package under the Chipset category.
Let me know if that helped.
