Hello, I have the XPS 15Z that is less than a year old. Last month, I used the CD drive for the first time and found out that it was not working. Dell tech support sent me a new drive as they were unable to correct the problem. The tech who came out wao install the drive indicated that the problem was not hardware but was the software. Tonight, I inserted a CD and I am having the same problem. My laptop does not recognize the CD drive. Dell tech support is unable to assist me other than to have me send my laptop in or have the drive replaced. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I have had this problem from almost the day I bought my 15z. They came out and replaced the drive. The tech couldn't get it working. Magically three days later it started working and then stopped a few weeks later. Hasn't been working since. I believe it is a driver issue but haven't looked that hard for a solution.
