Hey something really weird happened to my m1530 computer. My TEAC DVD+-RW DDVW28SLC no longer reads any CDR/W discs! It reads DVD's and CD's fine. I've tested a couple CDR discs that work on my friend's computer but not mine. Anybody ever experience this before? Anybody have any suggestions?

The only suggestion I have is read this thread:

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=370665

He had a similar problem. Around that time, yet another bloke also posted a thread, but I can't seem to find it to check if that too was with a Dell M1530, because if so, it seems something is worth delving deeper into.

i don't think that is related. For some reason my drive can read some disks but not others. Strange huh.

Might be worth trying a cleaner. Even though my setup is an M1330 with the Matash*ta drive, mine can read retail DVD's, retail CD's, but nothing else and just like his system, It'll start to burn but fail. I'm about to try the disc cleaner option since I have nothing to lose and if all else fails, looks like I'll be taking the whole notebook apart to replace it with another drive.

Yo Persnickety, callanish: thanks for the great advice. I had spent a couple hours on the phone with some useless Dell techs and they wanted me to reformat my whole computer. I tried your ideas, I got a friends cleaner CD and now everything works great.

    Thanks for the help!
