Dell XPS 14z Review - Watch CNET's Video Review
The review isnt that great. It starts at $999 but for that you get only an i5 and no discreet graphics card. Meh.
-
The discreet card in the 14z is barely better than the IGP so its not really a huge difference either way.
-
Tsunade_Hime such bacon. wow
Ya the HD 3000 is up there for integrated video. Almost lines up with 8600M GT, which in my Vostro 1500 can still play modern games at medium settings. Also no rubbish Optimus to deal with.
-
May I ask why you think Optimus is rubbish? So far I'm seeing nothing but benefits for me anyway.
-
2 air flow bottom and left side, very stupid design. Xps 15z and macbook pro is better.
-
Optimus has a few compatibility issues with some programs. For most users though it works great. I love this feature personally. But with the 520m not being a particularly impressive GPU, integrated should be fine. Intel's come a long way in that regard with HD3000. Ivy Bridge promises to be even better.
Still has that trim that has caused some issues on the 15z...hope that issue is not as serious as it appears... -
I've heard about that but experienced none of it. My experience thus far with optimus has been pleasant. Same with the 15z it'll be a month tomorrow and my trim is just fine.
-
It sounds like the major culprit is the Total War series. Apparently one game/game set having an issue means Optimus is crap. I suppose if that's all one needs it for, this is true. Glad your trim is holding up. Perhaps Dell fixed up their process on that.
Of course, the comments one is most likely to find are those from the people having problems...not the majority that are fine. -
This is true, certain notebooks and features you're not going to see a slew of "THIS IS A GREAT NOTEBOOK!" posts, because those people aren't really on forums writing about the computer, they're using it. Majority of people on forums are those with problems and those helping with problems.
-
That freaking chrome trim. Even if it doesn't fall off, it LOOKS cheap and dumb.
-
Agree it looks cheap, I rather buy an another Vostro 3555 for $350 which also has the backlit keyboard, USB3.0 ports and twice as strong graphics.
