After hours of reading up on the CPU whine issue and trying different settings, I'm a bit frustrated to find that most solutions involve using RMClock, which does not support newer processors, i7 included.
The only other thing I could see was to disable CPU idling via registry/Control Panel, which murders battery life. Is there something else I can do to get rid of this noise? My ears are too sensitive so it is driving me insane. If a CRT TV is on in a 50 yard radius I can tell. This noise is way worse because it's almost like high pitch Morse code.
I know this topic has been beaten to death, but for my sanity, tell me what I can do! Thanks guys.
System info:
Studio XPS 16
i7 Q720 1.60GHz
ATi Radeon 4670 HD

-
1. disable c3/6 states or
2. use JJB's or stamatix tweak -
Also, for 1, can that be done through an Intel utility? -
