As I indicated in another thread, I recently received a new replacement m1330. I just swapped the hard drives and started to use the new one for the last 2 days.
The temperatures are being monitored by Everest Pro 4.5. The GPU idle temps are similar between the two computers at 60-65 C. However, while the CPU in the old one was idling around 40-45 C, the idle temp of the CPU in the new one is around 50-52 C. Both CPUs are C2D T7500 (2.2GHz/800MhzFSB, 4M L2 Cache).
Is this 10 C difference at idle normal? What is the "expected" range?
Thanks

I dont know that much about this kind of thing...
But i suspect the difference in temps are to do with the cooling on the cpu itself. Possibly on one of your machines the cooling pad is more effective/ one of the cooling pads is not properly applied.
However as your temperatures are by no means high it shouldnt be a problem.
I feel that they land in the expected ranges, as right now on my machine (M1530, T7250, 8600M GT) the temps on the 2 cores are fluctuating between 45 and 55C. This is after i have undervolted too... So you could easily expect them to be higher.
If you feel that it is a problem however, you should contact Dell again and enquire about getting thermal paste re-applied, or having the heat pipe assembly replaced.
If i was you i wouldnt worry about it, unless you start getting into the high 70s and 80s you are fine. Even then, i think 100C is the max. temp. these things are designed for.
Hope all this helps -
Thanks for the reply. It seems like the CPU temp is still within range. Since I have warranty on this until Jan 2011, I'd just keep an eye on it (as usual)...

OK, well keep us posted.
If any further faults develop then get on the phone to Dell! -
