Can I Swap my Dell XPS 13 L322X 256GB SSD with Win10 Pro over to a XPS 15 9550 15.6" i7-6700HQ 2.60GHz 16GB RAM GTX 960M with No SSD laptop and fire her up, or does it have to be completely reinstalled, OS and formatted? I was hoping I could just put it in and fire it up. Then I could install the proper drivers etc. for the laptop or reinstall from there.

I just want to boot it up with the 256GB SSD and use my 4TB WD Passport External Drive via USB to actually use and save stuff to.

It is possible that it will work. The issue is, it will always have a slightly wonky install because of old installed devices from the L322x that aren't on the 9550. It doesn't affect the system in a huge way, just digital clutter. I did just do this with a desktop and Windows 10, and it worked for me to get into an OS and make sure stuff was running alright. I DID end up reinstalling, but it did work, so it might for a laptop as well.
