First off, I'm sure that posts about this have been made, but I can't seem to find the search function on this forum so have decided to make a new post.

I just ordered the XPS M1530 with the high definition screen and resolution of 1920 X 1200. As I realize that it may be difficult to read things on such a resolution, do I have the option of decreasing the resolution to something more suitable through the display properties?

    Thanks.

i cant tell from experience cause i don't have my computer yet, and i have the same resolution, but there IS an option to reduce the resolution to a very small one and in between, i thought of getting the largest screen for hd content and quality of overall picture, and im thinking you did so because of the same reasons

(like any other screen in the world hehe)

Yes, you can decrease the resolution to whatever pleases you :)

And you can do this through nVidia control panel as well :)

Btw, I am currently working with 1920X1200. I have no major problems with reading things on the screen. And I have been wearing glasses since I was a kid, not a pretty good natural eye power as well.

Anyways, I work on my laptop from around 1 to 1.5 ft (or 2 ft sometime while I just sit back) away. And its fine for me. :)

Fonduekid, if you decrease the resolution, does the screen become blurry or fuzzy or something along those lines?

good to know fonduekid, il be sincere i also had my doubts about that resolution, it does look much more detailed and "fine" right ? because it uses more pixels per image ( or object )

hey i forgot about that, yeah, brilliam is correct, that is the most effective way of making things larger and more readable is by increasing the dpi.

thats a plus on your rep mate!

Rishi - Yes, anything less than a native resolution doesn't look really good on the screen and its better to stick with the native. I tried it out myself, setting different things, it was a mess and terrible, to be frank.

Koer - Yes, with the native max resolution, I just cant take my eyes off the sceen :) Its a "fine" beauty :)

Else, as Brilliam said, you could always increase the dpi :) I am currently doing just that using the 120 dpi option. Of course there is always the custom dpi setting if you want it bigger :) Cheers.

Thanks for all your responses. I decided to change my order and get the 1440 X 900 screen instead because I'd rather not take the risk of having to deal with something which might not be right for me. I must say, though, that getting the order changed was an enormous hassle and it extended the estimated ship date by 18 days, so I might not get it now before I go away to college (which will be a major problem).
