When they say "Laptop LCD Screen Finish: Glossy or Matte (Depends upon availability)" or when they let you pick out glossy or matte, it means you are NOT getting the screen you think you are. I wouldn't really trust any of those places.

You can get it from twscreen.com, but you'll have to wire the money as they are in Taiwan and that's the only method of payment. Give [email protected] a shout letting her know the screen part # you need and where you live. She can then give you a quote.

Also, you may need a new cable to fit the screen. Dell uses different cables for different screens and they are not compatible with one another. You may want to find out if you can get this before you purchase the screen.

I find it extremely disappointing that Dell wouldn't already include this as an option for a non-3D 1080p screen for their XPS 17 line. Shame on Dell.

The average consumer wouldn't be comfortable taking apart the laptop in order to replace a sub-par screen with a screen that should have been available as an option in the first place.

Screen is not that hard to replace. Just follow the dell service manuals online. Don't forget about verifying the screen cable compatibility.
