I am not sure its features are for me. I can always boot to Vista and use Irfanview or some other software to get all the functionality of Media Direct.

So can I skip installing it when I wipe everything out and install Vista Ultimate?

Yes, you can do that. :)
Just insert your Vista Ultimate Disk first instead of the Mediadirect disc.

    the media direct physical button?

if u press it without MD installed as a partition, it'll boot to the next OS(Vista) installed on ur system

pressing MD button in Vista... it'll open the MD program in Vista, or do nothing(u can change the button to open other programs eg firefox)
