I'm looking to get an X9000 but i've read the heat can be a problem with the nvidia gpu. The latest mobo is supposed to have a revised chip which won't fail but i'd rather not take any chances! The cooling on the m1330 could obviously be better but i can't do the copper mod as it's under warranty so i was wondering if putting a thin layer of AS5 on the gpu would make the cooling more conductive.
If not is there anything else i can do? Could i get the temps of the X9000 low enough with good thermal compound and cooling pad? Or is an X9000 gonna be ok with this new nvidia chip?
Cheers.

I got my answer about the pad from the Arctic silver application guide. Decided to clean the cpu and apply some fresh AS5 anyway, see how much cooler the cpu runs. I can either get a T9500 or the X9000 but would rather have the oc'ing to make the upgrade worthwhile, i'm running a T7500 with throttlestop.
I'm gonna ask Dell and if they say it's supported i'll go ahead. Then if the mobo fails they can replace the laptop.
Can i put a thin layer of AS5 on the gpu with a cooling pad?
