    Can the dell xps m1710 run the intel core 2 duo x9000 extreme cpu?

    most certainly not. the fastest CPU available for the m1710's motherboard is the T7600, clocked at 2.33ghz. this chip can however be overclocked substantially.

    He just told you that the T7600 was the best chip.
    It's because the highest FSB the chipset will accept is 677mhz.

    You can try T7600G, which can be marginally overclocked on M1710.

    i wish i could use my x9000. oh well. found out dell is giving me a system exchange anyways so ill be getting a xps m1730. sweet for me
