Do you mean viewing directly on the screen, or on an external monitor/TV?
What's the native resolution of your screen?

I got the same screen like you have. Yes, you can't take advantage of 1080 P, but you still get the 720P HD. My screen looks great when I watch 1080P video clip.

You can watch it, but not in native resolution, thats all. You can still view it full screen with a lot of detail, much better than a DVD.
What exactly do you mean by "it looks bad" ? Play back is not smooth, colors are not good, see artifacts or what ??
I can watch 1080p videos without any problems on my M1330.

if the colors are bad you can go into the Nvidia control panel and tweak the colors. If it isn't playing smoothly make sure your computer is set to high performance and update the graphics driver

I thing there might be a problem with your downscaling settings.. Check your decoder options..
