I can't enable TRIM on my Dell XPS 13 L322X SSD?

I ran in command prompt as administrator:
    fsutil behavior set DisableDeleteNotify 0

I got this message when I tried to enable it in Command Prompt as an Administrator.
    Error: Access is denied.

    [IMG]Command Prompt message

This is a six year old XPS that was running Win 7, which I upgraded to Win 10 Pro.

You need to run system level tasks under elevated cmd or powershell.

I ran Command Prompt as "Run as administrator" and got this:
    EnableTRIM_DellXPS-13_Win10b.jpg
    So I'm good then?

    Yes, all good.
Another alternative is to type defrag in search bar/box and do SSD TRIM aka Optimise from there.

Not fully understanding this? I thought you aren't supposed to defrag a SSD? Or does Optimise button do something different?

Win10 SSD defrag = TRIM SSD. You can perform defrag at the expense of added write amplification.

Yes it means TRIM is working and W10 has recognised it as SSD and will run only TRIM and won't defrag the SSD like HDD.

How can I be sure of that. I sure don't want to damage my SSD.

Open defrag.exe using MS search or everything search engine. Select the SSD drive and hit Optimise. You will Trimming(percentage).

And not to forget... You can see how long ago the last Trim is performed in the same window (Current status).

OK, I'll try this... if it's the same SSD it came with, it's at least 6 years old and probably can use Optimising.

Question though, should I shut down everything before doing that, like I have ten online pages open, etc. Or is it OK to keep using the laptop? I'm guessing, the former.

OK, I typed " defrag.exe" in search and all I got was a split second screen of command prompt, poof gone... no time to see anything? What happened?

In the search box just type "defrag" and look for "Defragment and optimize drives"
