I have a dell xps m1330 running vista 64 bit. I bought windows 7 ultimate and have been trying to install it but I cannot get past the pre-installation where it says "a required cd/dvd drive device driver is missing..." I have the mata uj846g dvd/cd burner. First I found the hard drive in the device manager and copied the drivers for the mata drive which were: PxHlpa64.sys, and cdrom.sys onto a usb to attempt to install when prompted by the windows 7 installation. This did not work. Then I searched for drivers for this drive all night and could not find anything. The dell website does not have it and it doesnt seem like anyone else does either. Can anyone please help? Thanks.

My drive is a M A T S H I T A, i guess there is a curse filter so it keeps coming up at mata.

Do any of the fixes listed here help you out? If not, try searching on the error...it looks like most people were able to fix it by making some changes in the BIOS.

Thanks Codester for the article. I have gone through everything and still to no avail. I did some research though and it seems this problem is extremely widespread yet no one has a definite solution. I have looked into Ide ATA/ATAPI controllers section of device manager but I am not really sure what to do in there. Any other ideas are greatly appreciated. Thank you
